Yeah, the advice I read was "turn it off in your browser and only use apps from trusted sources". I've had the browser plugin disabled for years now, and I have never needed it ever.
Most people using Flash for browser applications nowadays, anyway. Not that it's much better. (Anyone remember what a big deal it was when Firefox started running "plugins" in an outside process, so them crashing woudln't bring down the whole thing? Yeah, we know exactly what it was for.)
