Re: DoomRL Arsenal - [1.05] [MP-B6.2]
The drone launcher isn't really overpowered S:
Considering; You don't keep drones between maps,
AND it costs 10 rockets per drone, which are already hard enough to find on random maps.
AND the drones often hit the walls/any cover you're behind whilst they circle you.
I'd say it's not really that overpowered at all. In fact, it was a master assembly I made in the first few maps (Playing with a modded DoomRPG to reduce the crate spawn rate, and yet I still find one on map 3.) and really its usefulness ran its course not long after, because rockets were scarce - Especially when I have a Firestorm MIRV Launcher and my co-op partner has a Shrapnel Cannon, we both chew through rockets. I'm often trying to save up at least 10 rockets for when we come accross a nightmare Cyberdemon or some similar boss-like monster and I need a little bit more firepower.

To everyone talking about brutal doom and drla compatability: this conversation makes me feel like lazily copying and pasting the monster code from drla and project brutality. How many monsters do DRLA and Project Brutality share again?

Please don't do that. There are enough BD kiddies around as it is.Deviluke Roy wrote:Ouch.wildweasel wrote: Above all else, clear and informative comments are the most important, not just to remember where things were, but so that people won't find out that you've left horrible racist jokes in them.

I'd just ignore mentions of Brutal Doom, really. The only people that defend it are the people who think "Brutal Doom == Doom As It Should Be", or people who would equally defend Doom 4.

Allright then. I don't play BD much, though.AdmiralAjax wrote:Please don't do that. Well, there isn't anything wrong with liking BD or Doom 4 more than Doom 1 or 2, but I think it's important to remember that BD's just a mod, and Doom 4 is Doom 4.Tanksy wrote:I'd just ignore mentions of Brutal Doom, really. In mine and other's opinions, Doom 4 is Bethesda looking at Brutal Doom and going "This is Doom, Let's make this into a Triple A release"

DRLA? Oh! I got sidetracked!wildweasel wrote:*ahem* So, uh, how about that DRLA, guys?
Well, I played it with Colorful Hell recently (with the shotgun guy, I forgot his name, but he rides a motorbike on the character select thing), and It's...hard. Kind of hard.
Maybe. If you want to, you could.Princess Viscra Maelstrom wrote:i'm still holding up for that update. been binging heavily on LegenDoom in the process. perhaps i should run DRLA again though?
Also, what is LegenDoom?
Re: DoomRL Arsenal - [1.05] [MP-B6.2]
That character is (in general) pretty underpowered due to the lack of good shotguns in DRLA (as I was made aware, it is the worst "main" weapon class, with even less content than pistols. Also, there is no demonic shotgun, and IIRC no legendary either. However, a class's effectiveness depends on what wad you use it on as well. For instance, renegade is good on shotgun-heavy mapsets, marine is good on plasma/chaingun heavy mapsets, or mapsets that are scarce on ammo, tech is good on long wad's as there's more to explore and find modpacks (especially if said mapsets contain computer area maps that reveal mod recipes), et cetera.Deviluke Roy wrote:

Another thing to consider is that CH is a difficult mod, especially if a white/black enemy spawns. Consider resetting the map with "changemap map[current]"(changemap map03 if you're on map03), especially early on when your loadout is weak. Another thing that can help is "start with unique" in the DRLA settings, which will start all of your runs with a unique weapon, thus increasing your chance of not getting frustrated by the difficulty.[/quote]
Another great mod by Yholl.Deviluke Roy wrote: Also, what is LegenDoom?

I am really looking forward to seeing the new monsters coming.
Also, I wouldn't say Renegade is underpowered. Have you seen the amazing shotguns you can get? You don't need a demonic shotgun when you have a rotating tri-barreled monstrocity in your hands.

Me too. I hope when Yholl logs on and goes to here next time it's suddenly "NEW VERSION EVERYONE!" For me I want some demonic shotgun. Because when I think of badass shotguns, Doom also comes to my mind. Doom seems to be FPS where shotguns seems to rule and no one can't get enough of.Tanksy wrote:I am really looking forward to seeing the new monsters coming.

There is a legendary shotgun, it's Judge of the Dead.KILLER2 wrote:That character is (in general) pretty underpowered due to the lack of good shotguns in DRLA (as I was made aware, it is the worst "main" weapon class, with even less content than pistols. If you want to play CH then your all-rounders are scout and technician. Especially the latter because he can scrap exotics for rare modpacks.

Re: DoomRL Arsenal - [1.05] [MP-B6.2]
Renegade USED to be under-powered, yes. I certainly wouldn't say he still is. First off, don't ignore his secondary abilities - better tankiness from armour and instant weapon-switching are not to be sneezed at, I promise you. Secondly there are heaps and heaps of really great shotguns now. The Megaton might be one of the most immediately !!fun!!, but there are plenty of others. Conquerors, anything built off the plasma or heavy hunting shotties, auto-shotties, shredder shotty, this is before we even get into uniques and higher. You can kick ass with the Renegade very easily. Hells bells, even something simple like a heavy double shotty will tide you over fine.
