The Official ZDF New Doom Thread

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Yeah, I tried to git gud at multiplayer. My main loadout is the super shotgun and the chaingun because almost everything else is useless. Current K/D is 1.18.

I like how the level is inconsistent with skill, and how matches end up becoming very unbalanced. My level is almost 40, and enemies with lower levels are still handing me my ass.

So far, Doom 4 looks like a case study in why you should have dedicated servers.

So there's a remake of E1M2 on Snapmap,i must say...im a bit dissapointed on how the map look.

Im not sure if it's because of Snapmap not having enough resources to recreate the level faithfully or if the person who made it didnt remember completely how the level look ?

It literally is exactly what it says on the tin - you're just snapping map pieces together. :P Everyones' creations will eventually end up looking the same...

So even more limited than the Build Editor, which also shipped with the game (Duke3D).

Sorry I worded that wrong, I meant just insultingly limited compared to the Build Editor.

Why are you comparing the prefab-snapper of a modern 3d game with the map editor of Build?

SnapMap was never meant to be a replacement for a proper map editor. Compare it to something like Timesplitters instead.

Dunno, I guess since they both came alongside the full game I expected them to be comparable. Especially considering that Doom 4 is a AAA Bethesda release.

Did more multiplayer to grind my K/D. It's now at 1.23, which shows how much improvement I've made. Really, I make the Polygon campaign player look fucking amazing!

Even them agrees that SnapMap is a very limited thing, well, to be extremely honest, this was a dumb thing from id Software themselves, putting Denuvo on the game and saying that this editor is all the players need.

Exactly. I wasn't expecting a pro map editor. Although having idstudio would also be very nice, Snapmap looks like it does its job well.

the only thing that's odd is that Doom 4 is supposedly not going to have any mod support outside of SnapMap. which is probably going to hurt its replay value no matter how good the campaign is (it looks really good though.)

i'm kind of on the fence of getting it because i'm not sure if i'll just give it one or two runs like the new Wolfenstein games, and then feel done with them because there'd be nothing else to do. hopefully SnapMap might extend its playtime some. the inadequate MP idgaf about since i'm not a MP guy anyway, so it's entirely inconsequential to me. i just want to make sure it entertains me for the price it's sporting.
