I thought discussion wasn't encouraged here but since everyone's talking about it, I'll fill you all in.
I am using GZDoom 1.0.24. Basically what happens for me is:
1) I am not seeing any ghouls except the "Creeper" 8 out of 10 times I started a new game. The two times where I actually didn't encounter the Creeper - I only encountered the jitter skull once but didn't get to kill it. I also encountered Sjas and managed to kill it, but then the Creeper appears again which leads me to my second problem...
2) I cannot damage the Creeper. At all. I IDBEHOLD'ed and found out that it's a shadow sprite on the ground roaming around. When it "touches" me, the damn thing screams on my HUD but I don't receive damage at all. I've tried firing my bows at the shadow but to no avail.
3) 3 out of 5 times starting a new game, I also encountered a problem where nothing would happen. The fire dies but there are no ghouls. I IDDT'ed and do not see any moving objects.
And no, I wasn't using God Mode.
Of note is that I am using a custom compiled version of GZDoom that fixes this bug. I'll try using the standard version of GZDoom in a bit and see if the problems are still there.

That's really weird Nash. None of us have encountered any of those problems. Sure the creeper is a little hard to hit cause he's on the ground but he shouldn't be THAT hard. All I can suggest is try the latest GZDoom/ZDoom and try reseting your config file. Maybe a compatibility option is doing something? (doubt it)
And damnit torm, i've already gave the beta out!
Becides, you'd cry at the lack of detail!

The trick is to run backwards in a straight line if you can. That way they won't dodge around as much and will just run into your arrows.
Btw any update on mah pimpin' sprites? That's all i'm waiting on now I think. That and figuring out Nash's problem.
Edit: Also, minor update:
This should be self explanatory.

I'm guessing the problem lies in there.Nash wrote:Of note is that I am using a custom compiled version of GZDoom
I've verified that this works properly in ZDoom 2.1.7, and Cutty has tested with the latest official GZDoom. I've never encountered the problem of which you speak.
Also, regarding the randomness of the ghouls that appear, remember that getting one ghoul 7 times out of 10 is certainly possible in a random environment. I've run this more times than I can count and the spread seems even to me.
I have no idea, as I don't remember coding that part.TheDarkArchon wrote:On a possibly related note, why does the Creppers killing script set damagething to 255? 0 guarantees death.
