We don't ban people lightly. If it's done, it's for a good, justified reason.

Yeah, that's probably it.

Failing any logical explanation it's a conspiracy.

Hey, guys, I can't figure out any logical reason why my mouse double clicks on its own sometimes and not others. It must be a conspiracy.

andreat1988 had two posts to his name, Masonicon managed exactly one before expiring. Penelope....oh, yeah ok, that one was asking for it.

Is something going on in the Discord that I'm not aware of?

Or have our standards just gotten more strict recently?
To answer your question: Yes, there are things going on in Discord that you are not aware of. Quite a lot of things, in fact. Which is why I recommend anyone who is interested to join us - because we have a ton of fun there.

andreat1988 was a spam bot.

Masonicon is a ... colourful character. Suffice to say, we opted a pre-emptive ban based on his actions in other communities. This is a decision that is *VERY* rarely ever done, but it does happen. An execution of a pre-emptive ban like that only occurs when the administration decide that the actions of a user in other communities is so bad that it could actually be harmful to the safety of our own users here, or even to ourselves. This includes alt-alt-right (only people who go to the VERY extreme, talking as extreme as rape culture, basically), or people who are known to harass, stalk, or threaten others, or other people known for very extreme acts.

Awesome. Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't mean it in an inquisitorial tone, if people got that impression (I should use more smilies to convey emphasis... hmm...), I was just curious if this was some sort of offsite drama I should be steering well clear of.

I'll download discord again. Thanks for the tip. :D

Been playing Dark Messiah of Mighty Boot.* I have the Unlimited Edition mod, so I think I'm going to use its New Game+ feature to play for a different ending after I finish this one. The tedious parts should be less tedious with all my previous skills & gear.

* Or as a friend of mine put it, "Dark Messiah of might and Spiders". Frickin' spiders.

It's true, the NWO has sabotaged your microswitches and is using computer users' frustration to power its mind control pyramids. ;)

So I've played through both sets of endings to DMoMM. Am i the only one that's a bit disappointed that none of the ending videos (or the "death" one) are nearly as incredible as the opening cinematic?

... Not to mention how much of a downer the good ending is. But I guess there's status quo to keep when you're working in a series-sustaining universe...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown had an ultimately happy ending. The sequel is actually based on the failure of the XCOM project, which was a pretty neat idea. Folks need to think outside the box a little bit.

I would find it absolutely hilarious if they did the same thing for xcom 3 as a way of saying "well you got fucked over again, but third time's a charm amirite?"

Succeeded? Failed? Doesn't matter. As long we can expand the universe, we still can fuq up the pesky aliens despite we are outmatched. Right? :P

So it seems this kind of game concept lacks these days.

Or OR OR it assumes the ending where we DID win. As a parallel universe. We beat the aliens, send their fleet crawling with their tails between their legs, everyone goes back for tea and medals. A series of missions where we hunt down the last remnants of their organisation and the dastardly human scumbags who switched sides for them.

At the very end, in the last stronghold, one of your team comes across an alien textfile in an alien laptop, where the aliens talk about losing their chance of winning back their home planet - EARTH.

after all this time..... WE WAS ALIENS ◉_◉

...But it was already confirmed that the only reason aliens wanted earth was because humans made the perfect bonding agent for alien DNA (allowing them to fuse any alien DNA on a human body turned into goop), making us the perfect candidate for them to get new bodies.

TL;DR: It's soylent green but as a DNA LEGO mcguffin rather than food.

Kinda why I like mental omega's and twisted insurrection's story, as both of them take place in a universe where their respective bad guys "won" but infighting and unexpected things happen to all sides causing the war to continue.

Well, and Warcraft 2 opens on the ending of the Orc campaign in the first game. (3 seems to be based on the Human campaign of 2, but WC3 was the beginning of a canonic trainwreck anyway. I can't even read lore articles on the "series" without bleeding from my eyes. It's so bad.)

It just seems weird that the evil ending has the world conquered by its resident Satan understudy, while the good ending says its fate is "uncertain". It's either an attempt at a sequel hook or a means to reduce an entire doomsday-prophesy-driven plot to a historic footnote in an overall timeline. (Mind you I have had no other access to the M&M series so I don't actually know how interconnected various titles are.) Or it's part of some underlying trope that the big bad can never be utterly defeated, for whatever reason.

Never mind that the Elder Scrolls series has been doing it for years. Granted, in such decision-driven games there are tons of opportunities for opposing outcomes. Their solution: A magical disaster broke time, and as a result all histories are true. (The Legend of Zelda timeline took the same approach, to some degree.)

Anyway, the good ending sucks more than it ought to. Despite going to the extra effort to do the right thing, you don't really win. (Spoilers for a 12-year-old game follow.) Worse, if you go for the evil/betrayer ending, the epilogue outright lies where it says the power of the relic goes "untapped", despite Sareth saying the exact opposite mere seconds before.

I guess this is a situation where I should just headcanon it and move on. Instead, I'm replaying the game as a stealth-specced character, because it's really damn fun. (Haven't decided which ending I'll go for just yet.) :P
