Re: The WIP Thread
That would look cool with actual trails rather than sprites. Too bad ZDoom can't do that. yet...

Looking good so far
Hope it ends up as cool as your other maps, I loved the lava effects in the marble zone one
Here's an arcadey thingy I've been working on this weekend (thanks to Term for the fancy bullet trail code)

Chainsaw dog and health bonus plushes... Now it already got my interest, good sir!
Looks very large and grand(dad), and i'm guessing it's forgotten because the resources are all depleted?doomfiend wrote:*moviesnip*

GZDoom can though with 3d model trails, now that FastProjectile trails inherit pitch and angle.Dark-Assassin wrote:That would look cool with actual trails rather than sprites. Too bad ZDoom can't do that. yet...

For bonus Hexen points, make it fire poison gas balls instead of fireballs.
I would high-five the fuck out of that.

Dat sky tho

Re: The WIP Thread
Thanks!Skelegant wrote:Dat sky tho
I tried to emulate Doom 64 EX's style of skybox cloud scrolls by doing a normal skybox with the cloud texture and making it scroll at a slow speed of about 4 and then make a 3D floor for the skybox itself with an opacity of 100 and then scrolled the floor of the 3D floor's control sector with a speed of 15. The result is a thinner looking transparent cloud layer scrolling underneath the slower thicker cloud layer. Then for good measure, offset the X coordinate of the 3D floor's control sector to 256. The cloud textures I used are all 512x512, so this way they will never overlap directly when scrolling.
The skies are one of the things I'm most proud of, I think they turned out very well. All the cloud skies look like that, only different colors where they belong.

Re: The WIP Thread
You might be able to achieve something similar to that with a surface shader, that or a bunch of TEXTURES and some ANIMDEFS, and then you wouldn't need to do as much work with sector hackery.

If Sarge worked with you on this, or you with him, you guys could make something beautiful...
Not to say that either interpretation of Doom 64 is more beautiful than the other.
Doom 64: Retribution? Beautiful.
Brutal Doom 64? Beautiful.
Brutal Doom 64: Retribution? BEAUTIFUL.
It looks like you have the map more accurately done, with a few liberties. Loving the lightning. Not sure if the swirling skies were already there, or if those were added. I love how much brighter the map is, too.
The weapons' behavior also seems to resemble Doom 64's weapons' behavior more closely (though of course it has the smoother animations, which makes it all the better).
No hi-res special effects, like Brutal Doom 64... but that's what makes this one special: D64R really does feel closer to Doom 64, and that's just from this video alone...
I can't wait to play this one.
@Doomfiend... WHEN THE HELL are we gonna get to playing your maps?! Those teasers are OP! XD
