What happened was that after the crash they said that he had broken his back in 3 places and his going to be out for 12 weeks or maybe more. And after watching how hard the car hit the ground you know he's got be hurting. But he was awake and alert and they do put a ton of safety features in them cars and I have seen it lot more worrier then that.

Hey, would you care to share something you've written? Like an excerpt from the novel or something you've written before.
I've become an avid reader of sci fi literature fairly recently (also the non-fictional physics and mechanics involved in such), and space operas with strong characters would be my favorite subgenre.

My laptop's video card is apparently beginning to crap out on me. It's an NVidia Quadro 1000M, in a Dell Precision M4600.

The screen occasionally fizzles out... it can display any one of several colors, or it could turn black with a few rainbowy streaks racing across the screen. Other times, it can flicker, like a damaged display (think DOOM's screen-flickering effects, but worse).

Sometimes it can... temporarily... be "fixed" by shutting off the display for a while, or even by restarting my computer. This issue occasionally happens during startup as well.

I hope I can replace the video card, though I hear it's much harder to do so with a laptop. It'd be cool if I could upgrade, so I can run GZDoom better. I really don't want to get a new laptop.

It's impossible to upgrade a laptop GPU with very few exceptions. They are usually soldered to the board.

Well I'm still working on the first draft (65000+ words now!), but I will likely end up putting short excerpts on my author Facebook page and such, and I've got a mailing list linked on there where I'll do exclusive content and all that fancy business.

But I can tell you the basic premise. The novel takes place in a future far enough away to be interesting but not so far as to be unrecognizable, where we as a species have generally bettered our institutions and spread into the stars. I'm just warning everyone that I'm amazingly politically liberal so that's gonna show pretty starkly in the background material. I'll be dropping neutral pronouns for some folks, main character is a middle aged Hispanic lesbian, etc. Call it Progressive Futurism. This IS done under the assumption that all such identity variations are an accepted and normal thing in society at large such that no one questions it, so it's not a series of moral lectures but if anything of that ilk is gonna bother you then that's definitely too bad.

ANYWAY, the main character is Dame Bryluen Branok, Operative of the Colonial Special Operations Executive, a James Bondesque role where she is provided substantial power in exchange for almost all her personal privacy so as to keep her accountable. A mysterious threat whose MO doesn't make any initial sense pops up and she is assigned to make a task force and figure it out. She creates this task force from a vigilante with an unknown name, a mech jockey/pilot extraordinaire with some emotional baggage, a lost alien explorer with no idea how to get home, and a man whose everyday experience is a nonlinear existence that defies reality in several ways. Guilt-free, gory monster blasting with wild weapons follows.

But the threat continues to worsen in scope with no clear answers in sight, so much adventuring and intrigue occur, ramping up towards the finale of the third novel.

Much of the tech is based off of plausibility without going into enough depth to be outdated in five years. Silent space battles mostly handled by computer targeting at hundreds of thousands of kilometers, FTL travel is handled by a compressed space gate network, and there's plenty of hard Sci-fi concepts and conceits throughout (though pre-existing knowledge is not necessary). Other than that, a good sprinkling of pleasingly foul language, a slew of mature themes, some implied sexual content, and a good amount of obscure words (sorry).

Phew!

I'd feel the same pain as you're having. If you haven't moved your arms much often, it'll get much worse. How do you say? Myalgia.

Well, that may be another issue then. Instead of your arms getting muscularly sore from it, you may be causing potential damage to them... like your muscles probably aren't supposed to handle that much strain (yet).

How long have you been working at this job?

I wouldn't be too worried about that. I've been in that job - and on the other side of it is some impressive lifting strength.

Been playing through Kirby games lately. I've finished KDL 1& 2 and am working on 3, then I'll go through the GBA games (one of which is a Kirby's Adventure remake), but I don't know yet if I want to give K64 another chance. Something about it always feels really... off.

^^^ MAKE SURE YOU STRETCH BEFORE WORK!!!! DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!

So, I reinstalled my Borla* muffler in my car. It's a bit too quiet for my taste, but it sounds a lot cleaner and still beefy with the headers. My neighbors probably thank me, too. You can still hear the header roar at higher RPMs, but I'm going to miss the blast from cranking the motor (see above video.) The plus side is I have my quad-tip exhaust back, a look I've always loved on Corvettes and related cars! I will eventually get an electric cut-out, which means I'll have a switch that will remotely dump my exhaust near the headers when I want to be an obnoxious asshole, and that will close up and force exhaust flow through the muffler when I want to be respectful. I honestly have no Idea what to do next to my car now... except for new spark plugs/wires/heatshield and a proper computer tune for all the modifications I've done.

@RexS you could take your Firebird to car shows down there Florida because that's what I'm going to do this summer coming. Speaking of corvettes I actually have 2 of them ones a 1976 and 2004. Its that time of the year again that you will be seeing a ton of old cars coming back out.

So I finished 3. One of the best final bosses in the series. (Amazing Mirror's is worth a mention there.) I guess it's on to GBA!
