For a virus scanner, I usually recommend Avast as it's the least annoying out of most I've tried. However Windows Defender is also pretty good (and it's included with Windows anyway).
Everything else - just use what you already have. If you use Firefox, keep using Firefox. Or Chome if Chrome, etc.
Also, save your "Appdata" folder. It helps when reconfiguring the new system.
Thanks. The whole process took me a while, and I forgot I made that post. I formatted my drive after backing up my most important folders, including Appdata.
I made the jump to reinstall Windows because my system's been acting kinda weird in general. Ever since I switched out a GTX 760 for an RX 480, it always spun up to 100% for a second whenever Windows booted up. Speech recognition in Chrome was completely broken, and Steam took like twenty seconds to even try to start any game. Everything's fixed now except the graphics card thing.
I used to go balls to the wall, no antivirus except Defender, which I barely paid attention to and never scanned with. But I've also used Avast and MalwareBytes. I might go back to that combo someday.
