in ultimate doom builder use the 3d sectors mode then after adding it click seperate and it will seperate the 3d floors into seperate ones. once that's done pres shift+w and you will enter slope mode which is a very easy way to make slopes.(that includes 3d floors). Just make sure the 3d floor control sectors are pretty big and far away from the map.

yikes I had no idea there was an automated 3d sector creator! I had still been tediously doing it piece by piece. And last I read 3d ones couldn't have slopes at all. I will probably find out it has been possible for ten years. thank you for the information!

The software (aka "Carmack") renderer did not know how to deal with sloped 3D floors, but the GL renderer could. Vulkan renderer can too. And I suppose softpoly is also capable to handling it. Dunno if the Carmack renderer was updated to handle them, though.

oh beets and I had been thinking the software renderer did not support 3d floors of any kind. I remember trying to run some wads with 3d floors before I knew there were multiple modes like that and the floors simply didn't show up. It is impressive how far along all this has come.

Just those that I forgot to post earlier, in addition to the textures on 158-159 pages of the forum (in fact, the doors on the file with the buliding walls are "old", since they were taken from Duke 3D, and not drawn in Doom style, although of course you you can also use them if you like).
I just used them for those places where there may be non-opening doors (there was also an idea to do something like hammering with boards, or signs "closed" to indicate their status, but honestly, this is already worn out, and it doesn't look very good, so let it be just like that).

The unwanted love-children of a Dark Forces texture and a Half-Life texture.

Thanks.

I've also just had a go at this - but I think I've reached my limit of what I can do, so I'd really appreciate it if someone had a go at improving it.

I wanted a more Doom-like version of these Half-Life textures (doors that split in the middle):

but I wanted to base if off this smoothed version of BIGDOOR2 (which I think was originally posted in this thread, but I can't track it down ATM to give credit to the artist).

Here are my attempts:

Not too bad, but could be better. Anyone want to have a go?

Masterfully improved! The shading now looks clear and has depth to it. I actually like Half-Life 1 textures the most. I genuinely felt the textures in the game are all like JPEG-esq and would've been a lot more amazing if it had the quality of Quake 2. Or maybe it still worked like a charm because it gives some kind of realism to it. I dunno.

Again, good stuff. :D

The smooth shading on the BIGDOOR2 wasn't mine - but I can't track down who it was right now.

This was another attempt to do what I wanted.

I like the principle a bit better, but I just couldn't get the middle section to look right.

[edit] and a vertically split version for polyobjects:

and an alternative take on the horizontal split:

Do you have a non-split version of the clean brown door?

I do:

and a bonus green one too:

Unfortunately, I don't recall if the original artist of the grey one made the brown and green ones or if they were my recolours.

How about this? I'd edit the upper and lower part so they're not the same.

That's a neat idea. I had been wondering about using a modified platform instead but I hadn't thought about combining the two.

Here's a quick edit to add a bit of shading so the the pistons look less stuck on.
