what level do you get teleported into arch-viles though? i can't think of any levels that are that, but there's plenty of ambushes there.

At the end of MAP11, there's two exit teleporters. If you pick the wrong one, you get sent into the Arch-vile death room (although you'll be sent to the next map anyway since the room is a type 11 damaging sector; which ends the level when your health drops below 11%).

i don't remember having too much problem with Plutonia, but i've also played it since i was a wee lad, so familiarity is pretty big for me. what level do you get teleported into arch-viles though? i can't think of any levels that are that, but there's plenty of ambushes there.

Always shoot and cover, arch-vile hates covering when they're about to releases their loads to us.

If you don't know it's gonna happen, you'll have no clue what's going on, and you'll probably get hit once, or jump off in panic and land somewhere you don't want to. But yes, Arch-Viles are situational. On an open field, you can not dodge them, but in a map like Hunted, it's easy. I didn't get hit once in Hunted, except for the exit-room.

That said the whole battle is a bitch to win. You'd better save-scum (or god if you want to cheat straightly) unless you want to have grey hair early. There's no checkpoints and you'd fight him FIVE times. The expansion was great in general, and I can't wait for V6. I hope Light's lab gets more bigger and has more places to explore and there will be a healthy amount of secrets and easter eggs to find.

Talk aboot arch-vile

I can feel you when there's no covers at all and vile is trying to kill you. Nonetheless, you gotta make them stun somehow. Like using super shotgun or plasma rifle.
