Screwing around in the Blood Alpha.. I've been editing the source code, but that's not present in the video!

Re: The WIP Thread
Huh, neat -- that midi music in particular is super-interesting, despite being rather un-Blood.

Re: The WIP Thread
Really? How is that possible since I heard that the source code from the alpha version is hard to get is because it's cryptic or something. Does this mean we don't have to worry about the actual source release then?gerolf wrote:Screwing around in the Blood Alpha.. Well your forgetting the fact that they originally considered this music but they never used it. Which shows for what is considered 'Blood-like' is subjective although it's understandable though that the reason they scrapped that music along some of the others is because it sounded like a typical FPS game of the time and they needed horror sounding music to uniquely stand out.Xaser wrote:Huh, neat -- that midi music in particular is super-interesting, despite being rather un-Blood.

What do you mean I'm "forgetting the fact?" I'm explicitly acknowledging it.Jinal wrote:Well your forgetting the fact that they originally considered this music but they never used it. Re: The WIP Thread
The source files in the alpha are not cryptic, but there is a password you have to type in to access the files, "eclycer" and "jello" depending on the file you're wanting to access. The alpha's code is very primitive, and is quite different from the retail versions code (I don't actually have to see the code from the retail to know this). No, we DO have to worry about the actual source code release, stillJinal wrote:Really? Well, it wouldn't fit retail Blood, but the alpha seemed to be going in a slightly different direction in terms of music and sounds.Xaser wrote:Huh, neat -- that midi music in particular is super-interesting, despite being rather un-Blood.
If you want the midis, you can download them all here (has all midis from the alpha, beta, and retail):

Test video of a portion of the Introduction animation and map01 cutscene. Not complete here. The "hyperspace" effect doesn't have the ship at the moment. WIP.

Re: The WIP Thread
if the main picture had a good ol' classic title...also because of your too many hard works, it seems takes a losta secs to load this wad though. BTW, the doomguy's head cursor was my fav.

Spoiler:
Spoiler:Taking a break from HSD. This'll be a more ordinary map. Machinery themed. I expect to steal/borrow some geometry from this for HSD later on.
(Looks way better in-game ;_;)
Re: The WIP Thread
Second shot gives a distinctive Doom 3 vibe.

Re: The WIP Thread
I rather just realized I ripped off the Rrajigar mines from Unreal pretty bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OJb_pWUhNk0bsidian wrote:Second shot gives a distinctive Doom 3 vibe.
Still, there are worse level designs to steal
