Modern computer components are much less sensitive than old ones. Still, in roughly 20 years I have never "fried" a computer part.

Yes, I ordered one. It's on the motherboard box in the fourth image.Snarboo wrote:There's also a tool you can get that grounds you as well. Forget the name, but they look like a bracelet with a cable ending in an alligator clip you clip to the case.

I keep meeting Enjay's son in MechWarrior Online. This time, as he was on the other side, my outing was so poor I did 0 damage for the match and died quickly.

i always found those things to be flimsy, with a way too short cable, and the grip flying off most of the time as a result. i just make sure to touch the radiator before going inside the case, and not wear anything that'd make me statically charged.Snarboo wrote:There's also a tool you can get that grounds you as well. Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Well, the thing is, I tried my original engoo folder that I carried over from my laptop (where it worked), and that crashed too. Operating system on both computers is Windows 7 Home premium. So I'm thinking I did something [censored word] with my computer and I can't figure out what it is. I AM using an AMD APU due to my own stupidity, and I know some other games choked on that with a similar error. You can make fun of me nowleileilol wrote:it's not your computer, though there's a few questions:
1. is quake clean and pristine of any 'hd' and 'epsilon!!! definative way to quake!!! with grene color's' content?
2. see 1
3. did you try to run a map because mappers love to hit those limits to torture engines to the point there's a divide
4. did you run eng95 on some operating system that does not end with a year from the 1990s decade in its name
5. is water reflections on, if so turn that the fuck off
Engoo went through testing on XP and 7 to beat Episode 1 from start to finish uninterrupted with everything on as its release criteria. it didn't get much testing in anything else because the year (2013) was about to end and I had a desire to focus on something else (like beating the hell out of idtech3 to get it to have some engine modernisms no one bothered to code in)
Try it in a fresh install of Quake with just the pak0/pak1.pak files (that have proper 1996 dates and sizes)

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I just discovered that my trusty three year old laptop had 25% of its 640 GB hard drive space taken up by nothing but System Restore information. Not only am I going to delete that data, but I am going to limit that space in the future to about 5%. Fuck that noise. (Why was it set as high as 50%?!)
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Because you're installing a lot of programs that create restore points. Normally it can't even get to 50%.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I only wanted to know why the System Restore reservation mark was set for 50% of the hard drive; it's the only drive connected to the machine. I scaled it way the fuck down to 5%.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Just checked, the default is apparently 10%, but it's definitely not 50%.
Sounds like someone is screwing with you.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I am the most computer-savvy person in the house, and my laptop is password protected. It might've been a program, or Dell itself (the place I got the machine). Until an hour ago, I didn't know this setting actually existed.edward850 wrote:The default is apparently 10%, but it's definitely not 50%.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Well, that's the disadvantage of having branded computers. But I guess you have no choice if it is a laptop.
