This STONES? If so, feedback on what to fix is appreciated.

Well, it's a good way to get people to play those long forgotten wads.
I for one, never play level wads, as I think it sort of like a waste of time.
Unless they are really special.
Hopefully this wad will change my mind.

It should be obvious if you play it, the HOMs and inescapapble nukage pit are pretty bad. Everything else it ok.

I'm sorry if I haven't specified what exactly this project is attempting to accomplish.

So let me try to explain this as best I can.

This is a contemplation wad featuring the best and notable single levels for the Original Doom/ Ultimate Doom, ranging from 1994 to now (2011), aka it's a greatest-hits wad. So yeah, I'm compiling levels together as a large Mega Episode.

Yeah I know, any schmuck could do that, but I wanted to bring these great classic wads together instead so they would be much more available to play rather than having to hunt all over the internet for them. I take no credit in making any of the levels used (with the exception of any special maps). That credit goes to the original creators. All of the text files for each wad will be provided for not only acknowledging the creators but also to let those who play this mega episode can know who to thank (or blame if you don't like a certain level).

I will be editing some of these levels for playability and stability(likes STONES.wad, which you can try my edited version via download in a previous post).

If you think this efforts are futile or pointless, I really don't care, it's my project and I'll accomplish it the best way I can. And I'll probably end up doing something similar for Doom II. Though first things first. I'm still in the process of gathering levels. No sure how many I'm going to end up with, but suggestions are still welcome. Also suggestions for how to fix some of these levels are also appreciated.

Speaking of which, I was trying to make a level based off the first level of Heretic as a secret level (1 of 5 special maps for this episode). Just putting the map straight into Doom obviously doesn't work(believe me I tried :? ). Any suggestions on how to accomplish this without having issues?

It's ok, don't worry about it. By the way, those levels you suggested were added to the list. Not bad choices. :)

You already did before, you're just repeating yourself. I think you're trying to get yourself an unwarranted 15 minutes of fame just compiling together levels that you didn't bother editing for sake of consistency or anything of the sort.

I think you should just stop altogether; this probably won't go well wherever you decide to upload this ... "compilation" of the "best", because a mixed bag of even good WADs is still a mixed bag.

Say what you'd like, I'm not stopping this. I can't tell you to like it or not, it's not my call. If you know what to expect from a mega wad, then you already know what your getting into. If you like it, cool, if you don't, oh well, tell me what was wrong with it (in a professional critique manner of course, not just "IT SUCKS"). I'd at least hope for something decent to come out of all this.

My point is this: There's absolutely no theme connected to any of the levels you're pulling together, unlike projects like Plutonia 2 or Eternal at least all maintained a similar architectural and/or ambient style as well as a sense of cohesion in general.

I honestly wonder what the point is of putting them into a single WAD file, when you could instead just post links to all of them in the "Cool Mods You Might Have Missed" thread instead. Are you modifying them or something (other than renaming the map lumps to run in sequence)?

If they need to be edited for playability, then yes, that is one reason for this. I've noticed that some of these wads suffer from certain issues in gameplay and level structure. So far, STONES.wad has been edited. If you want, I can provide the original and the new one to compare. Another major issue IS the sequence of levels. I'm not sure whether to base the level order on difficulty, map size, map name, or the like. Right now, I'm gathering wads for use and editing them if they need to be edited. Not all of them need it, but some indeed do. I also have 3 special maps in mind, one is already finished, the second I need help with, and the third is still on the drawing board.

I don't want to combine these levels randomly for no reason. It wouldn't be fair, nor fun.

Hardly the "Best of the best", then, are they?!

Since when is any level? Are you trying to be a deliberate jerk? Cause your tone is very antagonistic.
