VAPORWARE: Eternity map pack announcement!

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

Those shots look most impressive and it's certainly a talented team. This should be very good. :yup:

I hope that the title of the project isn't prophetic.

I believe it's a spoof on other EE projects which really seem to stagnate. (damn I'm impersonating captain obvious methinks)

And whilst the linked portals stuff would be very difficult to emulate with 3D floors, patience would allow it to be perfectly possible. There are almost definitely differences in behaviour that will make linked portals win through though, as long as the enemies can't see you through the floor or whatever.
What about polyobjects in one floor with other structures in another floor above/below them? I'm not sure if model clipping would be sufficient for faking that :P

Also, inaccessible? Huh o_o

It's not ready to download, from the site. And hell yeah, with 3d floor flooring I'd have height problems with press-space linedefs.

EDIT: are the ZDoom forums active continuously during the night? Do they beat Doomworld in this area? I can't go to sleep and it's getting very late.

It's 6:40 P.M. over here, which is usually prime internet time for me -- and I know I'm not alone. These forums are pretty global, so there's usually always someone around with some daylight hours left.

Also, there's no download yet 'cause the project's not finished. Good to hear it's gone public though. :P

With this, he meant that Eternity won't work with his IWAD, and i still haven't figured out why it doesn't work. O_o

The only downside is that there's no GL renderer capable of playing this...

@essel: That is one other thing that wouldn't work... therefore I assume you're doing just that, and will proceed to be quiet.

And for some reason or another, over the course of many years my Doom and Doom2 IWADs have become incompatable with ports such as prboom and Eternity. They both still work with ZDoom derived ports however. Admittedly, my Doom1, Plutonia and tnt IWADs do seem to remain compatable with all ports, so I could possibly fudge my way round it.

EDIT:

To be precise, my DOOM.WAD, DOOM2.WAD and HEXEN.WAD all have post-2000 last-modified dates, which is most probably something to do with the problem, as the others still have their 1995/96 dates (even though I only got hold of heretic and hexen a year or so ago).

You didn't run your Doom IWADs through ZWADCONV did you? That used to be required for a number of editing tools to work with them.

I've never had ZWADCONV on any of my machines. My only plausible explanation is that either one of those old mods that came with stuff like DEUSEF made a small alteration to my IWADs at some point, or that I've accidently altered them a little in XWE (more likely, given the dates). No real solid idea or founding behind any of this though. I know my Doom.wad was actually completely unusable for a long time after I tried a homebrew graphics replacement, although I did fix that recently-ish so that at least ZDoom runs it.

Can you not just reinstall them from the original media then?
