Re: The Turok series, your toughts on it ?
The heck ? I just saw a gameplay video of the beginning of the game and i noticed something different from the N64 version.
It seem whoever remastered this game didnt just added sligthly smoother graphics, but they also changed some locations in the maps.
I remember the 2nd key in the first level being in a dead end up to the left of a cliff pathway, but in the remaster they changed the area with a more open space location with a little shrine in the middle wich now contain the 2nd key and there is more enemies now.

I'm trying to remember if that location was also in the original PC version from 1997.

Nope, the original PC version from 1997 was exactly like the N64 version.
The N64 version of the first level : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRyBadLUwOA
The original 1997 PC version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E0pmJHuaJY
And here's the remastered version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTM13VBuim0
The part im talking about start at 2:32 in the remaster gameplay video, you can see it's a whole new different area than in the N64 and original PC version.
Mention:also is it me or the sounds in both the 1997 PC version and N64 seem a bit different from each others ?
Also the guy in the remastered version gameplay video say that the controls are very smooth with the keyboard and mouse so if anyone didnt like the control of the N64 version, they might like the controls in the remaster instead.

It seem that Nightdive studio are indeed going to remaster Turok 2 and that they might even do Turok 3.

Tough this article is a bit old,you can also check out their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NightDiveStudios/
For the moment they seem focused on remastering System Shock tough unlike Turok 1 it will be a complete make-over.

The Turok 1 remaster uses elements from both the PC and N64 versions. And yes, the controls in the remaster are fantastic and kick the shit out of the poor old N64 controller.
As I understand it, System Shock Remake and Turok 2 are separate development teams and technology - Shock is using Unity, Turok 2 some horrific hybrid of the original source code and Kaiser's KEX.

It's certainly better than GoldenEye 007, just because there was a PC port, there is no way i could play a FPS with the N64 gamepad after switching to the mouse + ASDW control scheme one year earlier (in 1996) when Quake came out. Watching people play shooters on the N64 was laughable, they can't even strafe jump, what a joke!

Turok's controls weren't as comfy as Goldeneye's. But the Goldeneye layout doesn't feel as good on twin stick for some reason. I used it on Unreal Tournament for DreamCast and had a blast. And yes, I can strafe jump in Quake using that same setup.

Thinking about it,the original trilogy wasnt done yet.
The ending of Turok 3 seemed to show that the story was to be continued...well i think it was supposed to.
Then Turok Evolution came out but it was a prequel to Dinosaur Hunter.

Turok is kind of similar to Timesplitters when you think about it.
Both series arent afraid to show multiple different themes.
For exemple, when one think of Doom, you think of Demons,Space Marines,Mars and Hell.
With Turok, while there is a big % of the game focused on Dinosaurs and American Native protagonists, the games also present Aliens,Zombies,Mutants,Demons,Robots,Cyborgs,Dimensional beings and other kind of creatures.
It's also the same thing when it come to the weapons and the environments.
Wich is exactly what Timesplitters is also doing, tough on a much larger scale by incorporating time travel in the mix.

You need to double/triple post less. Much less. On topic: I love Turok 2 mostly for the arsenal and multiplayer. The game mode where you took turns becoming a raptor was pretty cool. I've never beaten the game but I do plan to whenever the PC port comes out.

Yeah sorry i'll try to post less from now on,it's just that i really like this series since i grew up with it and there is so much i would like to talk about.
But not many peoples in the forum seem to have played it or even want to talk about it,so i tough i could try to liven up the topic a bit to encourage peoples to join in the conversation, but if you guys think im overdoing it,then ok i will post less.

believe us, we've all been aware of blurok for years. It's not exactly an obscurity on a Doom forum.Freaklore1 wrote:But not many peoples in the forum seem to have played it or even want to talk about it
