I use .96x for just about everything. Occasionally, I'll check out a wad in GZdoom just to check for compatibility issues (mostly the latest Zen features), but otherwise I stick with .96x. And why? Two reasons:
1) Compatibility. Although GZdoom runs just about everything pretty flawlessly, I know that there has to be at least one wad out there that screws up in GZdoom. Better safe than sorry, really.
2) I love GZdoom's Gl renderer, but the fully z-enabled freelook tends to annoy me at times. And that's not because of the increased viewing distance. I love that feature, but I find it infurating when I look directly up and fire my plasma gun and notice that the projectiles are completely flat. I wish there was some way to tilt the sprites at least for projectiles and the like, as they look quite ugly with the obvious 2d-ness.
However, I have been considering using GZdoom a bit more, and possibly switching Zen to use the newer engine. The 2nd issue mentioned above is what makes me hesitate to do so, however. The Fusion Cannon looks ugly as hell when you view it from the top or bottom, and just about every projectile weapon shows the same symptoms. Plus, I'd have to re-do alot of the effects I used (particularly in Map06, after hitting the switch past the red door), since being able to look straight down breaks them completely.

This poll fails it. 2.0.96 is named but 2.0.63a isn't. Anyway, I primarily use 2.0.63a, mostly because I have about 4 or 5 wads that require anything above it. I don't have 2.0.98, and never plan to get it, like Dom, I'll upgrade ZDoom when I have a reason to (2.0.96x works fine for the rare occurances I use it, and only one of the non-63a compat wads I have would work in 2.0.98). What it comes down to is what I need. ZDoom 2.0.63a and PRBoom 2.2.6 suffice on one comp (where I don't have as many wads), and on the other, where I have a lot of engines, 2.0.96x is a fine companion. No reason to change that ATM.

Well, both Dom and Hobbs strike me as DM/Coop types, so it's not suprising that they don't jump at the juicy features that are like water to my soul. I suck at DM, and find Coop annoying, so SP/Eiditing is my god.

- Show me a new version with all the Co-Op bugs fixed.
- There is no real reason to use 2.0.96 over 2.0.98 (and 2.0.96x owns both). OTOH there are still advantages to using 2.0.63a, one of them being some wads don't work in newer versions.
- If its of no interest, then why the fuck did you make this poll?
- Not only can I tell you who voted "other" but I can tell you what version it is they use. Its 2.0.63a. Which BTW has more votes than the wonderful 2.0.96
- New != better. See the failure that was 2.0.97

I made this poll because I wanted to know how many people are using the latest versions. Of interest in this context are only the selections I posted.
BTW, 'other' has more votes than .96, but only because most users have moved on - but not to .98. They moved on to .96x!
And so far this poll perfectly confirms my suspicions about the current state of ZDoom:
1. Many users aren't interested in 'official' releases that don't contain the most important feature for them - enhanced DECORATE!
2. Some people will never upgrade. Be happy with your old version but don't complain if it eventually becomes obsolete!
In the end though the only person who can draw the right conclusions from this is Randy.
IMO before starting with DoomScript or whatever he wants to name it he should:
-fully upgrade to .96x before adding anything new
-clean out the bugs forum
-make sure that this version is really stable
ZDoom's reputation is at stake here! The fact that some people still use a version that is almost 2 years old says a lot!

Heh, people have been trying to tell the developer of nLite that for a while, I bet.Graf Zahl wrote: IMO before starting with DoomScript or whatever he wants to name it he should:

nuhi (EDIT: I fail at spelling) seems to crank out feature after feature after feature without really stabilizing the existing features in his nLite program. I know a lot of people would probably keep that stable version around for a long time but some of us do not have scratch computers to play with just to test Win2K/XP installs and just want to remove Task Scheduler and other various components from Windows without all the hassle. New features are always nice, but unless there's something vital that lots of people really need, what's done needs to be set in stone before going any further. Especially since he's starting to name his projects Release Candidates.
From a visit to his page just now, however, I think he's beginning to listen.
