Totally legitimate and rational reason. Part of why I hated the weapons in Q2 so much...
Well, I ended up fixing it after this post. There's a russian mod called Berserker that has a fix, bascially implemented that as a CVAR option for Yamagi Quake II and it got merged in

Never got around to the registered versions of a lot of shareware just because I didn't have a "cheque or money order" or credit card, but I guess that just goes back to "couldn't justify expense" in a family that never, ever ordered anything by mail.
I wilfully avoided everything Sega for my entire childhood because of the edgy ~attitude~ ad campaign and shit-talking Nintendo. Eventually got over it but by then I was going through other Bad Shit in my life so I could never justify a console to my parents. (Not sure why that stopped me from just occasionally renting a Genesis at Blockbuster though)
Yeah they aren't stupid reasons at all, quite legit really. Regarding the Sega stuff, I can understand the resentment due to the ad campaigns if you were a Nintendo fan. The ads weren't that aggressive in Australia like they were in the States.

I'm not really into Multplayer games either. To me, a game is an escape and that can either be something simple if I'm tired like a run and gun title on a console, or something with a great story to escape into.
lowskill. wrote:- Any game requiring high end hardware because I am bankrupt. They're too expensive usually as well, not to mention the costs of said hardware, and I cannot justify the expense, especially if it's for only one game - HL Alyx would be a perfect example here, yeah, I am not spending some $10K on VR hardware to play a single game, no thanks.
I can appreciate that, especially from back when I was younger. Would you go back and play those demanding games once commodity hardware is capable of playing them or would the moment have passed?
I've used VR stuff before at a mates houser and while I admit it wasn't calibrated properly for me, I got quite nauseous during gameplay. So yeah, not overly keen on buying all that gear just to feel sick, which is disappointing because I love Half-Life! I hope
this mod can mature into something usable for non-VR users wanting to play Alyx.

I also never had a modern console. I had the Mega Drive but that was the last one, switched solely to PC gaming thereafter and the parents didn't mind as they thought it was great the old stuff still worked on newer computers (well, as we know now, to a degree). Still have a few Windows 98 boxes and other retro PCs around for those super nostalgic feels.
