They should have a 'Splatoon-style' joke mode where all the guns shoot paint and you have to paint as much of the level surface in your team colour as possible. Or just stick to normal guns and paint the level with the blood of your enemies.

I'm worried they will focus too much on multiplayer and cosmetic things (there's no doubt that they took the popularity of a certain gore mod in consideration when they made this game). Yeah it's going to be fun and gory as Hell, but what about the story? DooM isn't exactly a game that needs a story, I know, but I was hoping we'd finally see what was in the novels come to life, how it all went down. Doom 3 tried to do it, but it ended up too much like Half Life and the movie had it all wrong (Monkeys with rabies?). I'm curious how this one will start, like in Doom 3 the day before Hell broke loose or like the original where it's already started and you're the last one left.

I'm honestly shocked how cynical people are about Doom 4 while Doom 3- an obviously slower game and even less of a Doom game than this one- gets a free pass, for the most part.

I think even if Doom 4 cured all of the world's diseases and solved world hunger forever it'll still be forever deemed as a 'failure' by a lot of the 'true Doom fans'.

Shielding as much info as possible, I want to go into the game as blindly as possible. All i've heard is talk about the intense gore and multiplayer, this is the first i've heard of this.

Why? It's not meant to dimean, it's honest advice. He shouldn't shield himself from info about the game and then go and try to enter a discussion about it, all that'll do is reflect badly on him for not knowing info that's months nearly a year old. It's a general rule for any situation, really.

It's not so much the advice itself, it's the way you've phrased it. Remember that tone is very difficult to carry over pure text, and it's entirely possible that a reader might think you're being a jerk when you weren't intending to.

The multiplayer and singleplayer are both being developed by different teams. (not completely different but you get the point, they're working on both of them)

I've been a hardcore fan of Doom for a long time, and this new game is being considered a remake rather than a sequel, and just like in movies, when they remake it you hope that it's going to be done right, I'm just anxious after the last two attempts (Doom 3, Doom Movie) that they wont do it right, I am staying away from as much information as possible, yes because I want it to be a surprise, I'm just hoping that this is the Ultimate Doom game that we've been waiting for, with modern technology. It's not that i'm starting to discuss things that I 'know nothing about', it's that I'm a Doomer at heart like you and want them to do it right this time.

I decided to shield as much information as I spoiled Doom 3 for myself for following the development for so long. I haven't done that for this one, however on a few message boards i've seen only people discussing the over the top gore and multiplayer. and nothing on the story, so I was just hoping they wont screw it up, this is their last chance to do a Doom remake right.

I think the reason they've only been discussing the gore and multiplayer is because that's all the advertising is really showing us. I believe id Software is going to pull a move similar to Dark Souls or DOOM 3 even with the story is given to you only partially (though mostly) through the characters/scenerios, and some of it is hidden in the sidelines.

I wouldn't be too miffed by that, mostly because I love Dark Souls and DOOM 3.
