Turok 2 has been properly remastered... I can die happy now.

Just wish it wouldn't randomly freeze and crash on me...SamVision wrote:Turok 2 has been properly remastered... I can die happy now.

Here's hoping there's a patch soon that resolves this for me. Though I'm not hopeful as I seem to be the only person that's suffering these game freezes. I'll keep my fingers crossed regardless as when the game is running I'm loving it!

Right now im watching VineSauce doing a 'hard mode' playtrough stream of the game,he's doing quite fine,he's also mentioning a lot of the new stuffs this remaster as to offer compared to the original and he's also quite the funny guy,im enjoying his playtrough.

Yeah, the freezing is bloody annoying! I've even had a look around over at turokforums but even there I'm the only one with this issue!
Anyone here a member of turokforums? Maybe we could get an online match going once the GOG version has the support...
I've bookmarked that playthrough for watching later. I just don't want to watch it until I get a little further in the game myself.

Have you tried turning down graphic details? It could be you're running out of video RAM, depending on your video hardware. Some of the extra effects like light scatter are very expensive to RAM.Hipnotic Rogue wrote:Yeah, the freezing is bloody annoying! So WildWeasel, did you get the time to try it ? What's your toughts on the new option customizations and ledge grab ? Do you think Night Dive did a fine job with this remaster ?
Re: The Turok series, your toughts on it ?
Huh... some of the level design is quite a bit different from the original. To be specific, a lot of the levels are simpler in geometry. I remember Turok 2 being much more exploratory.

Can you be a bit more precise ?SamVision wrote:Huh... some of the level design is quite a bit different from the original. To be specific, a lot of the levels are simpler in geometry. I remember Turok 2 being much more exploratory.

Well, I'm lost in the first mission. I've lit all the beacons and released 2 children but not I just keep wandering over and over the same area without finding any new routes. So it's complicated enough for me.SamVision wrote:To be specific, a lot of the levels are simpler in geometry. I remember Turok 2 being much more exploratory.

The thing about Turok 2 is that it's easy to get lost and feel like being stuck in a dead end from time to time, the thing is that you need to be very wary and attentive of the environment around you.
Watch for destructables walls+explosive barrels, look for any ladders/surfaces you can climb, try exploring all the floors/rooms of a building/house even the roofs if you can jump on them, finally be very very wary of switches...some of them can be very well hidden at time and can be missed easily if you dont look in every corners/surfaces,dont forget if there's a gate then there is a switch for it nearby.

People with issues: There should be a patch on Monday. If it persists, post about it on the Steam forums - Kaiser and Quasar (and Edward!) are actively reading and taking reports.
There have been tweaks to the level design by a certain unnamed Kaiser who shall remain anonymous. The Lair of the Blind Ones is apparently a bit less criminal this time around, but I don't really have a point of reference.SamVision wrote:Huh... some of the level design is quite a bit different from the original. I didn't think to give that a try (I've got a GTX780 and presumed that would be plenty powerful). I'm at work just now but I'll have a go tonight. Thanks for the idea.wildweasel wrote:Have you tried turning down graphic details? It could be you're running out of video RAM, depending on your video hardware. @Kinsie: Thanks for the heads up on the patch. I've already posted over on the Steam and GOG forums so hopefully they've spotted it.
As for the obtuse switch/door placement in the maps; yeah, T2 can be a bit cheeky. I always eventually found my way through - usually after a face palm or two...

Re: The Turok series, your toughts on it ?
yay, I always loved Turok 2, finally remastered. I was never be able to finish it back in N64 because... well, I didnt have the controller pack (I bought 3 controllers instead so we had a blast with deathmatch ) so I was not able to save
It was a pain. Now I wonder how well was aged this game. I am actually playing Exhumed EX, and it is a really fun game.

I can only imagine how painful it would be to play T2 and not be able to save. You must have put a LOT of hours into the game!
OT: Does anyone know of turokforums is down, at all? I've not been able to access it all morning.

Near 2/3 of Vinesause playthrough part 2 video,he discuss about how terrible the trumpets solo in the Death Marshes music is...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXLMuvVQg54 (the trumpets start at 0:50)
Then someone send the basement song from Resident Evil 1 Director's Cut to compare with...

My toughts ? I'll have to agree,it's just better to play the N64 version while doing The Death Marshes,it's calmer and sound less horrible.
