Also, spriting isn't really my thing and all I had was this edit of the some wand's (forgot which) pickup sprite and used it as a pickup sprite for Eriance's Obsidian Wand, humn:

Trying to make this thing look symmetrical while also making it not look awkward in some way, shape or form is tough.

You could add an asymmetrical element to fill up the space of one shell plus the additional horizontal pixel you seem to be having troubles with, like a small box with an LED on the left replacing one shell. Doesn't have to make sense since you can make up any old explanation for design elements, like it's a button that turns off an electromagnet that keeps the shells in the box.

Thanks for the advice, Torridgristle. It does look less weird with a light/button replacing the shell that was bothering me the most. :)

And sadly the hand doesn't appear in game because this gun is way too large. Anyway i would be very grateful if someone is up to graphically improve it!

Exactly what I meant. The "normal" non-mutated soldiers. Looks awesome, btw... but I don't remember them having such huge visors...
