Not sure where else to ask this, so I'll just ask here.

Does anybody know any half-decent video capture software?

OBS studio is fairly popular
works well, free, no bullshit trials versions

I use Milliri's "Action!". Can record 60fps with no issue on my old laptop, but have to pay to get it.

What's the video file size'? Fraps had ridiculous file sizes. Most likely due to lack of compression.

Is pretty much the same because it records at uncompressed AVI format. It gives you an idea: 2 minutes = 700MB.

The good thing is that Action! gives you the option to "export" it to MP4 while maintaining the quality and reduced file size. So, those 700MB on AVI ended up being 50MB on MP4.

Fraps has atrocious uncompressed output file sizes, even if you record it in half-size option (680*384). That's why I use D3DGear for 720p and you can have around a third of file size compared to Fraps and Windows Movie Maker to compress it even more (around 6 or 7 times the original size).

OBS supports the same nvenc hardware encoder Shadowplay uses, and with a plugin it can also use https://github.com/Xaymar/obs-studio_am ... n/releases the AMD GPU hardware encoder.

All you have to do to record for editing purposes is set a fairly high bitrate (some 20000 kbps for 480p, 40000 kbps for 720p) and you should be good to go.

I don't know why I wasn't expecting a small landslide of suggestions, but thanks guys. I will definitely give all these a look.

Question: Did Burnout Revenge had some form of "hidden" demo of another game?

I'm ripping the game sounds and i found A LOT of human speech, grunts and what i think are footsteps. How can it be? Also, i tested the iso and is indeed Burnout Revenge.

Yep, it has. The US box says IT HAS demos of RP-E games.

After playing some, i found out that those sounds come from the demo of NHL Street. I was hoping to be the demo of Black :P

So I got a letter back from my friend who's away at boarding school, and it seems like he's not going to be back until August. This really sucks. I've been lonelier than ever in my life and it's going to continue for another 6 months probably. I hope I don't go crazy, but that's assuming I haven't already.

EDIT:

I also made a rather naughty doomguy sound effect for giggles.

Our own Bouncy dropped a hell of a commission bomb on me earlier last night. I hope to not disappoint him; I'll happily show it here when it's done :D
