Why do people hate randomizer wads?

People loves to hate things nowadays. Yeah, thats it

But, as pointed by others in this thread, there are well done randomizer mods, and badly done randomizer mods.
I personally think that this kind of mod is one of the hardest to balance. I mean, it is easy for a beginner to make one, speaking in a technical way, but it more or less requires a veteran to do it well, speaking in a balance/aesthetics way.

The solution is obviously to follow in Hideous Destructor's footsteps and make the player suffer right out of the gate. :P

And I will put up this disclaimer: That's not AEoD's goal at all. :P

The big thing with randomizer mods is getting the variants/alternatives to properly fit the role of the original wherever replaced. For example, as I see it, a zombie variant:
- Needs to be easily dispatched (with the exception of maybe a chaingunner variant)
- Must work with common placement methods (shotgunners can be placed around a corner or in a closet; having a super shotgunner replace it would be cause for much deaths and frustration)
- Must deal a relatively low DPS as per their originals (more powerful zombie variants could have more of a delay in their attacks to give players time to react)
- Must drop similar-tier weapons or ammo (zombies wielding higher-tier weapons must only drop ammo, unless overall difficulty of the mod is higher or it's the only means to acquire the weapon)

There's a lot to consider in making viable variants for the vanilla roster. Throwing in additional weapons/monsters without such a level of consideration can throw balance off-whack, which is the ire of a lot of current randomizers.

For me, whether or not I like a randomizer boils down to two things:

-is it balanced?
-does it stick to a Doom aesthetic or at least an idtech1 asethetic?

So far of all the randomizers I've played with 667 Shuffle takes both of these into careful consideration. Most everything else either has severe balance issues and/or has clashing/out of place aesthetics.
