That's true. You might recall that a Simpsons vs. Futurama mod for Quake 3 was Foxed for copyright infringement, as is the standard with "licensed" mods (Aliens in particular).

Well then I guess that settles that. Eventhough I don't see why anyone would license the Doom engine for 5 grand....

Geedougg: Because maybe that's how much it cost to license an engine at the time, and at the time HacX was made, the source code hadn't been freely released yet. Think about it - back in '01, I saw the price figures for all three major engines - Quake 3 was around $100,000, if I remember correctly.

Yes I know. I'm not surprised about the prices. I'm just surprised that someone would want the regular ol'e Doom engine....

Actually Hacx was made for free due to the source's release, the makers just had to pay id $5000 to market it. There was no license fee:) Still my fave TC too.:p

As far as I can remember it wasn't free. I mean, I could never find HacX to download for free....

No, back in 1997 when it was first released, the source code wasn't out yet (it didn't come until 1999), so Banjo Software had to pay a marketing fee to id Software.

Back to Simpsons Doom - I don't understand this guy. He talks about how he programmed it. He couldn't have done much. What did you do - hard-code DEHACKED changes?

And his texture design is...Poe-esque, at least as far as the simpsons can be. If I were to make a Simpsons game, I'd try to pattern it more like the official franchise games - some of those were pretty fun. This just looks like replaced monsters and textures.

that's exactly what it is. graphic replacements. nothing more. piece of crap IMO. and besides, i recall seeing a simular wad called Ultimate Simpsons Doom a LOONG time ago that wasn't this one at all and had those EXACT graphics, and was just a freebie download. i think this guy's a scammer, stealing work from EVERYTHING else and calling it his own.
