How to disable deep water audio effects?

Post by Kilkakon »

Hi guys. Trying to make an underwater map--problem is that my sounds are getting mega distorted (they are already underwater sounding). I want to turn off all water related special effects and just have swimmable sectors.

You can turn off echo in sound options, but the sounds are still really off.

Any ideas?

There is a slider in the audio options labeled "Underwater cutoff". Set that to 0.

If I were to guess, I think the poster is wanting to do this mod-side.

This is correct.

Thanks for the temporary workaround Tapwave. If there's no proper way to fix this in a wad then I can ask the players to turn that setting off before playing.

After giving the wiki documentation on SNDINFO a gander, there doesn't seem to be a specific option to disable cutoff on sounds when defining them. That could be however, a feature suggestion.
