Hideous Destructor 4.10.0b

IF you do, please make it kind of quieter, I really doubt blood drops would be that damn loud. I shouldnt be able to hear blood drops over gunfire, ever. Even subsonic rounds.

I'm noticing IEDS are such a massive boon... I think perhaps riflemen, infiltrator, grenadier and classic rifleman classes should have 1 or 2 to start out, just as another thing in the tool kit. Infiltrators in particular, because of their job.... but rifleman and grenadiers too, because they are general purpose, fighters (rifleman) and grenadiers have loads of the stuff. I mean, every class gets a derp, which is MUCH more expensive to produce and arguably less effective, so I dont see how IEDs produced for relatively little money wouldn't be standard issue for relevant classes, given the ease of use, cheap cost, light weight, and high versatility.

EDIT: Ok, so Michael agreed to split the prize with silent if he can finish too, so silent, keep at it! I appreciate michael being nice about that.

WHERE DID YOU GET A DERP?

You probably didn't start from Doomed Guy. DERPs are nowhere for me. As well as Soulspheres.

And thank you for wanting to continue to give me a chance to win ze moneys, mumble. Yeh, if you let someone else have it, I would've probably given up. $100 is the only reason i'm self-flagellating myself like this.

Derp CAN be found inside backpacks, iirc. And a few other spots, I think.

Derps, and IEDS are super handy.

Looks like i'm gonna be going through this entire run without finding either one.

Finished E1M3. Prepping the footage now. It's well over an hour.

Yep, someone might have gotten the first grimdark speedrun. But let's face it. The playthrough i'm doing is one about overcoming severe adversity. And dying a lot. A LOT. : P

So it does have a purpose.

I also started this playthrough as Doomed Guy, I just got really damn lucky and found a derp in the backpack on E1M2 in the first secret room (@ 2:55 in the E1M2 video). They repeatedly saved my ass when dealing with those giant cloaking pinkys that almost always seem to one-shot me. I've played a few mapsets before too where there's actually hostile derps deployed around the maps and it's really easy to miss em and get shot in the back.

Also, soulspheres don't seem to spawn in Grimdark difficulty, and are instead replaced with mega-armor. There's definitely a bit of praying to RNG-gods on any playthrough of HD, and I wish you best of luck on the rest of your run (you got this man :))

You've seen someone get lucky with HD.

Now watch the average man's playthrough of Hideous Destructor. Getting raped repeatedly by shotgunners. E1M3 is done, and it took over an hour to finish.

E1M9 is next..... sigh.....

So I'm watching Michael's playthrough and noticing that he doesn't use medkits to heal all that much. Are people just not aware that medkits do provide a little teeny bit of healing? Not as much as a stimpack, but usually from what I've seen it's enough to bump up your health enough to improve your mugshot. Given you're watching your weight due to grimdark carry limits, popping medkits to heal yourself whenever you find some lying around seems like a sound idea to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, he just did, I'm in the middle of watching the E1M3 vid. Still, is something to know, not sure if everyone was aware of that.

The thing is, I THINK that doing that has a small chance to give aggravated damage. But also a chance to remove it. It's weird like that.

Never heard that it could cause damage, but I am aware it can heal lethal damage. Not aggravated, though, the only thing which can heal that is supernatural means(good luck finding any of that on Grimdark in Doom 1 though). You might be thinking of 'zerk packs, which definitely do cause aggravated damage to you.

Okay. Will keep this in mind for when I tackle E1M9. Which is probably tomorrow. Playing HD for more than an hour or two fatigues me like you wouldn't believe : P

That's why I didn't get it done as quickly as above. I have other things to do.
