[Project] "Knee-Deep in ZDoom"
Forum rules
The Projects forums are only for projects. If you are asking questions about a project, either find that project's thread, or start a thread in the General section instead.
Got a cool project idea but nothing else? Put it in the project ideas thread instead!
Projects for any Doom-based engine (especially 3DGE) are perfectly acceptable here too.
Please read the full rules for more details.

I have an idea.
I think that we should NOT set a final release date right now. We have no reason to release this early in order to make a publisher happy. If we, the team, are not happy with the project, what success is the project? None!
Earlier, Torm, you said that if we do not set dates then people will slack off. I think there is some truth to that, which is why we must continue to set incremental goals, but not the final date. Not yet.
We should bring the project to a level where all maps are nearly completed and gameplay is solid. The web page will be created, but only published as a basic shell without too much information.
Then, we remove files from the public server, annuounce a release date (and exact time!), and cease discussion in this thread. We take the project, and its hype, and dive into secrecy. The "core team" (Those who have worked from the beginning all the way through) will work without public being able to see the conversations. We elect a very important beta team who relentessly test the maps at all levels, who report to the core team that finishes each map. We discuss and implement any secret features. (Honestly, who does not know about M10 by now? This is not going to be a real secret for most people!) We complete the launch version of the web page. Then when the date and time is ready, we upload, when all the community is waiting for us!
I'd like to see it work that way. I'd really enjoy it.

Risen-I think this is a good idea.
/on a side note
I thikn the "core" should stick together after we release KDIZD. We should at first, work on Your project, than mine
to achieve supreme results.
plus-can someone point me to a good Doom story (or D3 intro) interpretation? I really lack any good ideas

Oh, but they will
Just thikn about e1m8, he he he. Besides, I only revealed one shot of titlemap (stupid me..
no more hype) and You have no idea what I'm planning for it. He he... he
EDIT:
Risen-can You set up us the bomb,... er, I mean a new PHP so we can communicate there instead of a public place? There are many lurkers who probably downloaded maps/seen shots of our project. If we want to keep secret we need a secret board to communicate (I know something about it, because I run the an underground brotherhood myself
)
