ZDoom resolution
ZDoom resolution
Since hud messages don't all align the same, I would like to know what is the most popular resoultion that ZDoom is played on (at least here). Thanks. Heh, the last option should have been "above 1600x1280", but Arioch replied too quickly.

i have mine set at 1024.768 most of the time because ZDoom wont run at 1600x1200 anymore i know its not my monitor because i run my desktop at 1600x1200 and ZDoom also wont display 640x480 or 800x600 1280x1024 either
also there is a ACS command to make the text the same on all monitors. its something like SETHUDSIZE(blahblahblah) or something...

Um, I'd vote, but you seem to have completely left out my resolution...
I play at 1280x960 which, contrary to popular belief, is the correctly scaled resolution. (Same as 320x240, 800x600, 1024x768, 1600x1200, etc) I have absolutely no idea why the standard is 1280x1024 when the aspect ratio is off...

I knew it was the proper AR but because 1280x1024 is the one used most often (against 1280x960) i choose 1280x1024 insteadHotWax wrote:Um, I'd vote, but you seem to have completely left out my resolution...

512x384 4:3
800x600 4:3
1024x768 4:3
1152x864 4:3
1280x960 4:3

640x400 for me, I need some pixel-effect and the aspect ratio. Noticed thatCode: Select all
Resolution Aspect Ratio 320x240 4:3 400x300 4:3 512x384 4:3 800x600 4:3 1024x768 4:3 1152x864 4:3 1280x960 4:3 1280x1024 5:4 1600x1200 4:3
640x480 with Status bar is like 640x400 without?
Code: Select all
Resolution Aspect Ratio
320x200 1.666 (8:5)
640x400 1.666 (8:5)

I play at 1280x960. I cannot use 1280x1024 because this causes problems when resetting to my 1280x1024 desktop. Anyway, good to see that nobody uses anything lower than 640x480(400).
To make HUD messages look good on all screen sizes I recommend to use SetHUDSize(640,480). On the higher resolutions the text can become really tiny and hard to read. This way you will have less problems to format your output and I will have less problems to read the text

What should ZDoom's default resolution be the first time you run it?
Try uninstalling your video drivers and then reinstalling them. At least with Nvidia's drivers (and probably ATI's), each resolution is stored in the registry separately for each color depth.Bio Hazard wrote:ZDoom wont run at 1600x1200 anymore
