PSX/N64 original high quality sfx

Post by Henery »

Yes, i managed to find some of the original sound effects in 16/44,1 quality from Sound Ideas Library. Been doing this for few months and it has been fun finding original source recordings. Also stumbled upon to few Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Blood sound effects.

Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a4pgdimazzwzk ... 6.wad?dl=0

Description of source recordings:

DSCLAW: Imp/Baron/H.knight scratching sound. Piece of fabric getting teared apart

DSCYBDTH: Similar to PC version but with PSX/N64 explosion

DSDOROPN: Door opening sound. This is one of those sound effects that has to be constructed. I don't know how do it yet, so i only adjusted it's duration to match the low quality version. I will try someday to make it more faithful.

DSPSTART: Hydraulic lift. 16/44,1 version has lot of high frequency details that got lost during downsampling. When i first heard this, i wasn´t sure if this really was the original source recording.

DSMETAL: Spider Masterminds walking sound. Thrashbin getting kicked.

DSSGATK: Demon's attack sound. This sound comes from growling tiger.

DSSKEACT: Revenant idle sound. This came from same sound file where PC version imp sounds are.

DSMANATK: Mancubus attack. Originates from snarling jaguar.

DSBAREXP and DSFIREXPL: Regular and barrel explosion sounds.

Want to help? Then go here ---> http://stockmusic.com/sound_effects and start sound hunting. It is slow and tedious job for one person to find them all.

Neat. I hope more of these are found someday.

Also, uh, your download link is asking me to log into Dropbox. Think you can change the link or upload elsewhere?

I suspect Henery has copied the wrong link; I get no such option even when logged in.

It's a home link, which he would've gotten out of his own file listing. What he wants is "copy public link".

Click the background (frame) instead of the filename, you should see the option appear at the top.

Click on that and copy the URL it gives you.

Here's something I know:
Some sounds were lifted from Terminator 2; the shotgun firing and pumping, and definitely the plasma gun fire.
The active demon sound is the same one used for DSPOSIT2.
Also, I think the door sounds were constructed using parts of the same sound file just played backwards.

Thanks Slade. I already know about shotgun and plasmagun sounds. I actually downloaded the shotgun shooting scene from Youtube and exctracted shotgun blast and pump sound. I didn't include that in this pack, because i think it isn't legal. I also have listened the opening scene for plasmagun sound. Unfortunately there is other sounds masking it, so i think it's not possible to get clean sound from it. I will try though.

A simple research update to keep this thread going.

The impact sound of the doors and lifts is a generic gate closing sound. Similar to that used in Quake.
The pistol shot could be a pitched down .357 shot.
And the sound for DSSTNMOV is a stock sliding stone sound.
