looks much better, very nice altfire.
Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
My map is done. It was so fun to make!
and now that the deadline is extended, I might just make another.

Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
Extended deadline? Might as well make another map now that I don't have much better things to do - although I don't know if I'll finish it by new deadline.
Spoiler:
Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
thanks a ton for the extended deadline!
Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
Because of the extension, now I actually have to fix my map. So I did so. Here it is.
Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
Welp, here I go. My first map.
- Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2cues ... IWELL2.wad
- Name: Municipal Well
- Credits: MIDI is Midnight Wandering from Metal Slug 3. Everything else is vanilla Doom 2 textures.
- Quote: "Start small, end big"
For a first map, I probably got overambitious. Ever since I first saw that you could make any wall in the map lower to the floor, I wanted to make a map where the walls of previously-explored areas would collapse, forming new arenas to fight in. As such, this map's progression goes from super claustrophobic to wide-open field.
Oh, and... I tested this map in Zandronum 3.0 software mode and it's perfectly playable, but the skybox tiles incorrectly in software mode instead of fading to a solid color like it does in OpenGL. This is only noticeable if you have full freelook enabled, but I'd still like to fix it if I can figure out how...

Hey, thanks for the deadline extension; I've been working on my map the past week but wasn't very close to finishing by the deadline...I think I bit off too much for my first level:

...But I'll get there in time.

Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
I won't be able to make the deadline, unfortunately. sorry.
Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
I'd love to make another weapon for this, but even with the extended deadline, I can't figure out what to make. The need for an altfire is probably the biggest stumbling block.
Also I have no idea how you'd balance the GOH-12 for multiplayer. :X The damage isn't obscene (it fires more pellets than Doom's shotgun but does the same amount of damage), but I have no idea what effect the tractor beam will have. I guess players move fast enough it shouldn't be an issue?!
Edit:
Wait, I have an idea for one now! Let's see if I can make it less than five days. :V

Re: DUMP Episode 3: BFG Edition [Deadline extended to 20th!]
YOU KNOW WHAT?! Since I have some extra time, I am going to submit another weapon. It is one that I released to Realm667, but I did want to improve it further and add an alt-fire. I can do that, right?! Here is the slightly improved version:
Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fe7636nfrypbf ... r.wad?dl=0
Name: Plasma Tracker
Credits: Pretty much the same as the Plasma Blasters. Credits file is in the WAD.
Tier: BFG
What has changed & other info:
-The name is now Plasma Tracker, instead of Swarm Plasma Gun. I didn't know the original name was common! The name may not be final.
-The projectiles now have limited seeking. Before, they would just fire at where you pointed, and since I am not too advanced with DECORATE, they would fire straight forward no matter where you pointed vertically. But I did want to use the seeking behavior for it anyway, so THERE!
-The projectile graphics and effects are nearly the same as the Plasma Busters, just with altered colors. I made this weapon long before the Plasma Busters, and really like the effects I made so I really don't want to tamper with them.
-Now a BFG class weapon instead of Plasma Rifle.
-I would like to improve the weapon sprites slightly, making some animations more smooth for example. I also want to change some of the sounds to those of a more higher quality.
-Shareware version. No alt-fire. If you like this weapon, please register it and get the full weapon, plus a hint and cheat code booklet!

Doom 3 Chaingun
Actor Name: D3Chaingun
Credits: id Software for Doom 3 (models/sounds)
Tier: Chaingun
This was just a way to push myself to work more on good-quality model ripping. The sprites are truecolor and haven't actually been polished up (aside from some edge cleaning), and I might do some re-lighting later down the line, but otherwise I'm glad with what I got.
EDIT: Sprites lowered for functionality.

top notch minigunner! only gripe is the sprite is drawn too high on the screen, looks a bit weird, but functionality wise I love it, very satisfying and balanced.

+1 for lowering the sprite; I can't see what I'm shooting while shooting. Perhaps lower the camera and lower the FOV to compress the length of the gun?
