Oh crap! An evil, curtain-scratching and hairball-vomiting force from outer space has arrived on your peaceful home planet!
They captured you and all your friends, built ugly factories everywhere and littered the landscapes with cat hair and poop.
And on top of that, they took that one girl you just got together with onto one of their ships, which is heading towards outer space!
Do you have the balls of wool to pack your guns, escape from your prison, and go on a journey through space to free your world from this abomination?

Clicke here! v1.3
Needs ZDoom 2.8.1!
GZDoom or newer alpha builds look kind of buggy

Make sure to unzip the archive and run these two:

I also recommend choosing the Doom2 Iwad! :3
Spoiler: Older versions

The goal of this ZDoom project was to create a little cartoony game the way it could have been made in the early 90s... on a slightly extended Wolfenstein 3D engine. Which means you get a Wolf3D gameplay style, but with quite a few tweaks and platformer-esque stuff. But to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing when I started the game. I tried all kinds of weird stuff with the Zdoom engine, drew some even weirder enemy sprites and slowly an entire game started to emerge. At some point, it all was tied together by a little story.

This is... Bizarre. Where'd you get the idea for this project?

As I kind of mentioned in the last part of the post, it started out as just a collection of random sprites, textures and scripting stuff I made with Zdoom. As the amount of content got bigger, I decided to link everything together with a weird story and make a full game out of it. :D The Bizarre-ness turned out to be part of it all.

While I'm not a huge fan of cartoon styles, this looks pretty good and consistent! Every project that ditches the stock Doom look and does something different and custom made gets a thumbs up for me. I'd create a replacement for the Metal Slug/Action Doom explosions though, while they're somewhat cartoony they don't blend in that well with the rest of the sprites.

Good luck!

This looks absolutely adorable. I know you mentioned Wolfenstein, but thanks to the weirdness it gives me more of a Ken's Labyrinth vibe (a game I have no shortage of nostalgia for). Looking forward to release!

Thanks a lot for the comments, the pictures should work again now :D

@Cage
Yes, they do stick out a little. But drawing good explosions is kind of beyond my abilities right now. For now, they do their job relatively well. :wink:

@Gyro
Nice to hear. I never really played Kens Labyrinth myself, but I remember reading lots of weird stuff about it. Wasn`t Ken Silverman like 15 when he made it?

@Raziel326
Awesome, will send you the wad soon :D

Seconding the motion above: man, this looks so unbearably adorable. It has a charming look to it, and the enemies and environments look pretty comfortable to blaze through and shoot repeatedly at.

Would definitely love to get a hold of it... and, er... yeah, send some feedback while I'm at it, of course. :P

Love the art style of this, reminds me of cave story substantially :D

Would love to test this, and then rip into you with criticisms (politely of course... ) To make it even better.
