Bloodshedder at Doomworld wrote a really good guide about this. You'll want an FTP client like FileZilla, ideally.

Not many people know this, but Windows Explorer can be used as an ftp client. Just plop "ftp://archives.gamers.org/" into the address bar and you can navigate and use it like a regular folder. On Linux/Mac it's more tricky tho.wildweasel wrote:Bloodshedder at Doomworld wrote a really good guide about this. You'll want an FTP client like FileZilla, ideally.

Huh. Son of a gun, so it can.
Looks like I can browse and even download with it. (Haven't tried uploading yet.) But I didn't have to enter any credentials, and usually they want at least an e-mail from the user browsing. So I dunno if this is a totally legit means of accessing the database.

That was a shell integration feature added @~IE4's release and was referred to as "web folders" at one point. IIRC

Ughhhhhhhhh.leileilol wrote:"web folders"
One of the worst Windows things ever: "Zip folders". That momenbt when you search for files and things inside zip archives are just thrown in among actual loose files. But trying to move/delete those files throws an error because they're entries in another file, genius. The "zip folders" service is one of the first things I turn off in a new Windows install. I don't miss it at all. 7ZFM does a fine job.
Granted I avoid using the term "folder" to refer to a directory these days. Amusing to me that cmd still calls them "directories".
Anyway if you want a nice FTP client for your Windows, WinSCP is good. (Though as the name hints, it's primarily an SCP client. SCP is even better.)
