Not really. I've been considering it for a while but just kept quiet about it since raging angrily at what was bugging me would accomplish nothing.

We don't delete accounts. That causes problems with the database (posts losing attribution, statistics getting screwed up, among other things).

potentially silly (not intended) idea but... what if you changed your password to something random, then changed your email? or would one cancel the other? i'm betting it wouldn't cause trouble to request your email blanked out and your password made a 16-character string or something; i used to think about this kind of stuff at a younger age (more aimed at sabotaging my enemies back then.)

it's essentially unusable at that point, and you could change your profile pic/title to reflect that you don't browse here, as well

Hmmmm. I appreciate the suggestion, but that's more effort than I want to spend on a scorched-Earth action.

i don't think a few rude/dumb posts should be enough to sour you from the entire site as a whole, but it's your call what you want to do. no need to keep on browsing an entire forum if it gives you a bit of a sour taste, i suppose.

It's not just those posts, it's prior dumbposting and drama here and being proven right over and over again that it will keep happening. Very un-serene.

You could do what The_Funktasm did and create a feedback loop of self-destructive behavior, spinning yourself into a ban like a self-righteous tornado. That's always fun to watch.

Dumbposting and drama are due in large part, I think, to the average age of the userbase we have here. We're constantly getting new members over the years who start posting in their early or mid teens, an age that, for most, hasn't been enough time for them to learn how to be interesting people with worthwhile things to say. I understand that not every annoying user here is that young, but in most cases the solution to the problem is the same: time. They will learn how to behave by trial and error, and by following examples set by those around them.

Of course, as I said above, the constant influx of young/socially-inexperienced newbies will ensure that there will always be someone around to start shit, so drama will always be with us. But we also have a large number of reasonable users who will try to douse the fires, and a watchful moderating staff who will shut down any drama that goes too far, so it will never be anything more harmful than an occasional annoyance.

I just want to add that the mature thing to do, if the drama here really bothered you enough to drive you off the forum, would be to simply stop visiting the forum. Pursuing a "Scorched-Earth action", and announcing it publicly, is an attention grab and is hardly distinguishable from the rest of the drama you purportedly hate. If you realize the drama isn't going to stop for any reason, you should also realize it's not going to stop on account of you threatening to leave.

While I understand what you mean, if I had wanted attention, I wouldn't have made my above request so short and to the point. I was *trying* to be unobtrusive and just basically wanted assisted e-suicide.

The only reason I even publicly asked in the first place was because I found out through experience that this particular Proboards community does not allow users to delete their user profile from their User Control Panel---I would be gone and done if I had had that option. So you acting like my FIRST choice was to come here and cry is putting words in my mouth and is not appreciated.
