Editing Programs which would work in Debian on a RaspberryPi

Post by EimGhey »

I am planning on making art mods as soon as I get the two new computers for my birthday... One is a Raspberry Pi and I am planing on using it for experimental art... Does anyone know what program I should download?

GIMP is pretty much the de-facto image editing program available on Linux, should be in the Debian repositories. The Raspberry Pi may be a little too weak for art if you're doing anything very large, however.

No, for that you need SLADE which should run on Debian. However, SLADE only helps you arrange the resources (graphics, sounds, code, etc). To actually create sprites you need a drawing program like GIMP or something.

Slade has a map editor like DoomBuilder (although not quite as full-featured). It also allows organizing resources in a wad, which DoomBuilder never had. So: DoomBuilder is a map editor only. Slade is a mod lump editor and simple map editor combined.

SLADE will run on Debian yes, though I'm not sure about the Pi. I'd say more likely not.

I imagine it'll run (Raspbian is just a variant of Debian), but it probably needs to be recompiled.
