I'm fully aware of that... and I'm pretty sure that it was supposed to be more general... but it'd be an interesting twist. This is headcanon, after all. Probably thinking about the Christian-themed gun names from DemonSteele. Malcolm Striker also reminds me of Moreau, a gunslinging warrior monk from Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, who happens to be an alcoholic.

I noticed the correlation too... Matriarch and Patriarch...

Maybe this confirms a crossover between Guncaster and Trailblazer??? XD
And for me he is an obvious expy of Big Boss/Naked Snake...
Alright, seriously, he does look the part on the titlepic (down to the facial hair and eyepatch on the right eye). But aside from that, he has different eye colour (black, not green) and his HUD mugshot has him wearing a left eyepatch. And Malcolm smokes cigarettes, not cigars.
(if this is in any way relevant, then I will just mention that Naked Snake supposedly has his ancestry hailing from Mongolia... he does not really look like it to me, but I am no geneticist, so screw my opinion  )
(EDIT: goddamn, BB has green eyes!)

...except that Kojima's, to put it diplomatically, inspiration for the Snakes was Snake Plissken from 1981's 'Escape from New York'. Solid Snake even calls himself Plissken in his early interactions with Raiden in MGS2. Although he gives his first name as Iroquois, that's just a more roundabout means of reference:
Wikipedia wrote:The French colonists referred to the Haudenosaunee as Iroquois, derived from terms used by the Algonquian-speaking tribes they first encountered along the Atlantic Coast. The name has two possible origins:
•French transliteration of irinakhoiw, a Huron (Wyandot) name for the Haudenosaunee. They used a derogatory term, meaning "black snakes" or "real adders"...
Also, see any resemblance between TB's protag and Plissken from EFNY?

Oh my, and I actually wondered a bit if to mention Plissken in my previous post... oh well :geek:
Yes, I knew it before that Snake Plissken from Escape from New York was THE prototype to all Kojima's Snakes. This is the primordial source of the character of Solid Snake, as well as Naked Snake and other Snakes. I mentioned only Naked Snake because Malcolm looks more like him than Kurt Russell's character (Malcolm has no trenchcoat, and has shorter and darker hair in comparsion to Plissken).
But yeah, the credit ultimately goes to Snake Plissken

Actually, in case you guys wonder so much about his origins, a little tidbit - he's an australian ex-cop, ex-special agent, merc for hire as of today, quite likely coming from some scottish noblemen family, with around a thousand year occult tradition no less (that's a mouthful, huh). We're taking cues from things like Escape from New York (so you got it right, but it's only a slice off the whole cake), Mad Max, Army of Darkness, Hellrider, Painkiller, Serious Sam, a spice of modern shooters (as the usage of ADS and this cheesy cover pic can tell) and so forth.

Eitherway, since I can't figure out the last two upgrades for my life, I guess I'll release it as-is... SOON! I'll clean things up, and add them later. For now, GIT HYPED or something.

Agreed, Nems.

Australian ex-cop? For one thing, that's Mad Max... for another, the ex-cop hero is way too overused. Ex-special forces, while also overused, is only freshly overused, and not nearly as overused as the ex-cop genre. It would probably be a better match for him. ;)

What's up with the Scottish noble family?

It'd be nice if he resembled the cliché action hero genre without taking on every single role of every cliché action hero ever. Having the sawed-off shotguns was a good enough reference to Mad Max... no need to put him into the role of Mad Max as well...

Definitely hyped for the new update, but I already have some things to suggest and complain about...

- The new Skullthrottle upgrade doesn't seem too well thought-out. Aesthetically, it clashes with the Skullthrottle. Realistically, how the hell is he gonna hold an extra gun on top of a two-handed minigun? It blocks much of the player's FOV, and seems quite useless.
- What if the Skullthrottle upgraded into a triple minigun? Three miniguns revolving clockwise on a counterclockwise-revolving base axis...
- Maybe the Leadspitters could become handheld miniature chainguns for their upgrade? Even smaller than Guncaster's Pulverizers? Or maybe they can be upgraded to that gun that's slapped onto the Skullthrottle...
- The Patriarch's new muzzle looks a little crooked. It's not aligned with the rest of the Patriarch's barrel.
- The Nutcracker's shot could probably ricochet a great deal of times before exploding... then again, projectile actors inheriting from "FastProjectile" can't bounce...

For that splash screen... the art quality is astounding! However, I liked the look of the Trailblazer's face from the old picture. He seemed to have a wider jaw, there.

No offense but a Triple-minigun would look even dumber than what he has now, on top of it actually being hell to animate. (And would take more space than what he has now would take.)

Ok yeah. I'm hyped as hell for this too. I saw the skullthrottle upgrade and I burst out laughing. It's already a 'Fuck everything in that direction' weapon this just turns it into 'Enemies? What enemies? You mean those bullet ridden corpses there?'

Also why am I both scared and excited to see if you plan on making a upgrade for the nutcracker?

I can see how it'd take time, but I fail to see how it'd look even dumber than what he has now.

Double barrel mini gun, or Super mini gun, because super means two. :P

I honestly don't see what the upgrade for the Skull Throttle does.

Add something more skull or more throttle.
