right?

i mean we shouldn't expect the crufty addition of ExtraHeroes should we? No one wants fucking Caleb and Mooman.
I have Kinsie at gunpoint to not do anything with Extra Heroes.

Well, that's an exaggeration. That was pretty much the first thing we talked about in Discord and it was unanimously "hell no" from everyone.
Of course, we're not going to lock it out because people are allowed to play what they want and it'd be stupid to disallow them, but it will not be integrated into the main mod.

Ultimately, Kinsie's the one heading things now so he'll have the Final Word, but I think it's safe to say he still feels the same way.

Taking the Forever-isms out of Duke would be nice too.
I don't plan on integrating any of the add-on hero mods out there. That's the job of the respective authors.

I'd like to add new stuff, outside the realm of pure maintainence, but it's early days yet. Let's not go crazy just yet...

Which is a good segue into mentioning that I do plan on updating Kyle Katarn to work with the new version, just gotta refamiliarize myself with Slade and all that since it's been a while.

I figure I'll treat this thread as a bit of a blog about what I do to this thing...

Today I took an hour before dinner and implemented some quick-and-easy bug-fixes that cool people sent me while I was out and about. Namely:
  • samsara_jumpmod now works again - it was broken by the modern implementation of sqrt(), so I quickly threw in the old implementation as oldsqrt(). (Thanks Term!)
  • Fixed a bug where Duke's pistol didn't have the "DukePistol" damagetype, meaning it didn't do much in the way of damage to Hexen monsters.
  • Integrated the Marathon Shell Casings sound code PresidentPeople sent over. I dunno if he made it, but he sent it over. Long story short, shell casing sounds after you fire the SMG or AR for a bit and let go.
None of this is released yet, I want to stack up a few more changes before I do so, but I just thought I'd give you a heads-up on what I've addressed!

For those who want to play with some extra class, I tested the add-on character Corridor 7 (Space SEAL) and functioned normally in this release.

Is there a link to this mod anywhere? The Dropbox link on the old Samsara Github Wiki is dead.

I had saved this file with the old version 0.29, I can upload tonight and post the link here.
Do you recommend me some free site to host file?

WAIT

I watched the trailer and I noticed that at the start Duke Nukem says "Samsara". Did you guys talk with the guy that made the Duke Nukem voice to say that?

If so... OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

The line "Samsara? What a piece of shit." was, indeed, recorded by none other than Duke Nukem's real voice actor, John St. John. You can ask TerminusEst13 for details on that, but yeah, it's authentic 100% Duke Nukem.

I can't remember if this is a functioning version or not, I stopped working on it when I started having too much trouble keeping everything working.

But as this was my hero, I still had him around.

I'm glad this mod is in your hands Kinsie! Your attention to detail and your general aesthetic have always been amazing, great work so far!

Thanks BouncyTEM! Tested this version 0.32, functioned normally, at least not seen bizarre bugs.

Update this patch would be cool, like the Corridor 7 as Extra Class as if it were a secret character or reserve team of Samsara.

We do not know how TerminusEst13 get it or how it negotiated with Jon St. John but this is amazing, it really is. :D

IIRC, he met Jon at a convention of some sort, and he's been known to contribute various voice-clips at such places, like reading a portion of 50 Shades of Grey for an audience.
