Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (version 1.1)
Version 1.1 uploaded. Enjoy.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Two versions less than 24 hours apart?
Well, being home with the flu has given me a lot of time (and being bored as a result) so here's version 1.2. It does feature some noticeable changes since 1.1 which warrants its release. The most noticeable of which is compatibility with DOOM 1 levels, a new gore effect and a few resolved issues.
Enjoy!

Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
I had a bit of a toy-around with this. It's pretty great! Certainly fun to see all the familar Duke3D gameplay elements blended into Doom's gameplay. The new elements and artwork (DNF shrinker, beer etc.) seamlessly blending in just makes things better.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Hey Ceejay, are you alright with me uploading the soundtrack of this mod I loved the grabbag theme the most since it reminded me of some good old B-Movie action.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
It's the theme from Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project. It's already on youtube and If you want you can get it from some video.Luigi2600 wrote:Hey Ceejay, are you alright with me uploading the soundtrack of this mod I loved the grabbag theme the most since it reminded me of some good old B-Movie action.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Thank you. I always found the beer pickup sprite to stick out a litte, don't know if it's just me. I added beer instead of the portable med kit for two reasonsKinsie wrote:I had a bit of a toy-around with this. It's pretty great! 1) I couldn't accurately simulate the behavior of it from Duke 3D.
2) I wanted something a little more creative than just bunch of med packs. It's also a subtle stab at DNF, where Duke would get drunk from one beer which is why it's a six-pack here.
The soundtrack isn't at all unique to this mod or rare, it is available all throughout the net. All I did basically was just sling it into a WAD. The theme and intermission are from Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, I chose these because they are my favorite renditions of the classic Duke theme(s).Luigi2600 wrote:Hey Ceejay, are you alright with me uploading the soundtrack of this mod I loved the grabbag theme the most since it reminded me of some good old B-Movie action.
On another note, 1.3 uploaded 'cos I had to ditch the NV overlay as I still didn't display properly on some wide screens. I could stretch it more but then I'm faced with the problem of it not looking correct on smaller and non-wide screens.

Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Wish it was for ZDoom... is it possible to convert an EDGE mod into a ZDoom mod? I'd assume and hope it is, it's just a matter of doing it.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Yeah, you can crack open the DDF files and as long as you know what you are looking at, the conversion should be straightforward

Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (DOOM 1 compatibility)
Yes, it is possible. But I ain't gonna do it. You are more than welcome to handle the conversion process yourself, if you are so inclined.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (headshot!)
(couldn't resist)
Version 1.4, last update for a while.
Get it here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/duke-it-out-in-doom/downloads
Notable features:
Headshots with unique death animations and quotes from Duke.
Magnum pistol scrapped and burst-fire pistol taking its place. With the introduction of headshots, the magnum is just redundant. Burst-fire pistol uses same ammo type as standard pistol.
Various improvements across the board
Enjoy!

Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (headshot!)
Ehh... Imp headshot state goes on for far too long to happen every single time you land a single pistol cap to the dome of such a common enemy.
Re: Duke it Out in DOOM (headshot!)
It will have to do until I can find a better replacement.
