Any decent free game recording software?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Problem with GPU/IGPU Recordings is that you need to give the recordings a higher bitrate to give it quality. A 3000 Bitrate x264 will win in quality over 3000 Bitrate NVENC or QuickSync. But the latter of two will win over CPU impact.

The current quality I have is fine so far. I just need to make it lag a bit less.

How does this look so far?

I'm trying to balance the quality and FPS, and I think I'm close...

(If this isn't the right thread, then feel free to move it to the correct forum.)

CamStudio 2.7.2 (Build r326) from the main website did not install properly for me.
Download r316 from the forum webpage http://camstudio.org/forum/discussion/1 ... o-download instead
and run Recorder.exe.

Malware?

Not according to Kaspersky.

Read what they say about it
http://camstudio.org/forum/discussion/1 ... -installer

Just on a side note:
It almost looks like they never got to fixing the 2.7.2_ r326 installer.
2.7.2_r316 is not an installer but the binaries and it is those that I scanned.

VirusTotal disagrees. Whatever it's reporting is not a virus or malware, just pay attention when you're installing it so you can make sure you've unchecked any of the "free offers."
Actually, never mind, I've been ninja'd with much better information.

Is there any way to record games with it? What settings should be applied?

Yes, you can record games with Camstudio. I used these settings in the past:

But you should experiment to find your optimum playback.

On my computer, even the optimum gives a choppy playback, so I changed to MOVAVI Video Suite
which is similar to Camtasia but costs less by a factor of 6.

If you are on Mac, you can use QuickTime player. If you are on Windows, you shouldn't miss OBS and Screen-O-Matic. Or else you can use some free online screen recorders.

This sounds useful, so I'm leaving it in place. However, in the future, you might want to look at how old the thread is to which you're replying; this one is 4 years old, and the original poster was banned long ago.
