
This means I can now update the Linux version of ZDoom. I don't know when that will happen, but there shouldn't be too much for me to do. I expect I will only have to modify the video code to match the new DCanvas interface, so hopefully it won't take too long.
I also want to try using TiMidity++ for playing MUS and MIDI so Linux users can hear the original Doom music. It's a pretty cool program, and the only thing I see wrong with it is speed: It's not that fast. Playing a simple MIDI from Blood that only has a few channels eats 12% of the CPU time on my PII-350. That's slower than FMOD playing a MOD with several channels or decoding an MP3. Still, I think it should be fast enough, and it can always be disabled.
