Out of curiosity, I see this numbered grid background a lot and was wondering where to obtain a blank one, and... what is it for anyway? Pardon my non-artist question but I was just curious on its main purpose, what is it really used for and how does it help in sprite creation.ThrashfanBert1994 wrote:on my case, i am working on a stormtrooper variants, this one is an Assault Blaster Rifle Stormtrooper. the head however, it was from dark forces. looks good to me.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
It looks like he's using Romero's dumps from the in-dev version of Doom as a base, which were ( iirc? ) released in an old image format for DOS which could only be opened by the program they used to make everything; since it was far easier than dumping each actual sprite, patch, and flat directly, the people who yanked them out just took sceenshots of the entire program. So the grid and pixel count are actually guidelines from that same program.

Some idea Haze had a while back. He talked about turning Wolfen soldiers into toy soldiers. I basically decided to work a little bit of magic on the actual basic ol nazi you see practically all the time and got this. I did like the idea. I wonder if he's still thinking of going through with it. Hmmm..

Looks like they'd make good holograms. Like in Star Wars. Only Nazis.
You know, that would be a good idea - a WWII mod with star wars story elements and timing.

I wonder if it's possible to code their weapons accuracy as such that their shots NEVER hit the player, IYKWIM, hehe.ThrashfanBert1994 wrote:here is the update so far on the AR stormtrooper, its good as hell. heh, i dont like the dark forces sprite of that. welp, i used the head still to get through with it.

and i think gamebanana is temporarily down for some reason, because it only shows white blank and nothing else. what's up with that?

That's very neat, although the green one needs a bit more color variation on the uniform than "shades and derivatives of green";Seidolon wrote:Some marine/protagonist styled sprites.
