Re: New Member Introductions
Greetings all. I've been a fan of the modding scene for about 15 years or so. Back in the day I used to play Half Life mods that came on the Pc Gamer demo discs as a kid/young teen I was keen on the idea of 'free stuff' for the games I already loved. I haven't really strayed from that philosophy. I play a lot of mods, and decided I'll take a crack at seeing If I can make one or two myself.
Right now I'm following some tutorials for making Doom maps, could be a while before I 'git gud' if ever but either way it's fun. I studied programming in College and am going to University to study Web Science in about 6 weeks from now where I might do some mapping at least practise anyway. If I can get a handle of Doom mapping, I might move over to Hammer and mess around with that too.
I've reviewed games and mods for sometime as well, and have a Moddb page where I make short reviews on various mods I've played over the years, If I ever have something finished myself I'll put it up there. TL:DR introductions out of the way I look forward to meeting you computer screen to computer screen.

Re: New Member Introductions
Good day, people!
I first found Doom in a Level 2004 issue which was bundled with a game by Terminal Reality.
I tried it on a Benq PC and it ran decently. I had no idea, and I atemptted to slap the guard repeatedly.
Then some years later, there was a Flash port of the first game.
I then tried Doom via the triple pack which was hosted on Newgrounds.com.
So yeh, I also tried the N64 game, and some others. The SNES port is the worst of them. The control is not responsive, enemies always face you, and you can't even circle-strafe. Even the framerate is slightly sluggish. The good things are that it uses the SuperFX chip, a scratch-made engine and much better music.
(Little bit about myself)

Re: New Member Introductions
Funny how so much people have been modding for years, even decades, but only very recently decided to register on these forums.
I'm in no position to say welcome but I'm still happy to see that many people register every week

Longtime Doom fan; the original came out on my 3rd birthday and I've played it pretty much every other month since then.
All the amazing sprite art and custom maps is what brought me here!

Re: New Member Introductions
Hello everyone!
I should have joined this community long time ago (like 3 years ago or so, when I discovered it). Anyway, here I am; let me introduce myself (like the Devil, if you know what I mean )
I've downloaded a very high amount of mods for Doom/Doom 2, and I've come so far that right now I have around 50 GB of levels, megawads, total conversions and mods. Using many of the files found here, I've been able to make my own mod compilations, creating new "megamods" which change almost completely the game itself.
I've got to say also that I'm NOT a modder, I hate programming and scripting, so don't expect me to upload anything but some music replacements (may be, some day).
Finally, I'd like to say that english is not my mother language, so excuse me for any mistakes I could have.
There we go, then...

Re: New Member Introductions
Welcome to the forums, and I'll be the first to let you know that you speak English very well. Around here, English not being your first language isn't that important, so long as you can make some kind of coherent sentence, which you obviously can (I'm looking at you Captain J and Zanieon).Gaderiel wrote:Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoy your time here, and I hope to hear some of those music replacements.
