Action DooM 2. It's a complete, standalone product that makes terrific use of ZDooM's features.

I tended between Doom and Strife, since Strife introduced Dialogs, which I use heavily.
But then I went with Doom.

Uhhh.... I think a better question would be favorite besides Doom. It's safe to say Doom is the favorite of the vast majoriry here. Right now all but 2 go to Doom.

Besides Doom, my favorite would be Hexen.

EDIT: Well, well, guess I was wrong. I'm surprised how many votes Strife has!

Heretic if Doom wasn't in a Dominating Spree with the voting.

Whoever's the other person who voted Strife, I want to hug them.

I would have voted Strife too but I can only vote for one at a time. :P

Doom. By far.

I can never get tired of it.

Strife is a very close second.

HacX is my least favorite right now. Started playing and it didn't feel right... I'll try it again sometime.

I voted strife. I think it's pretty much better than doom without mods.

Maybe the results would be different if the only people voting were the one who actually played all the games. Most people only played Doom

Heretic. My reasons for choosing it are:

- I really like its fairy tale theme. It's a bit more "magic-land" than Hexen (which is more "dark-age") but it's alright.

- People seem to make some really clever maps with the few resources from Heretic. I can't remember any boring Heretic map.

- Gameplay flows really nice in Heretic, even smoother than in Doom, especially Doom 2. Whereas Doom 2 can easily end your game with some tough monsters, in Heretic you almost always have a chance to survive if you're careful (use all those items!). This means that your gaming campaign will last longer and you'll probably never rage-quit. This is in fact a big problem with Doom 2 for me, since I never save, and if a revenant ball corners me, I might already be dead and have to start over.

I, for one, have played them all, and Doom remains my favorite. I still think we should've had a "besides Doom" vote- it's by far the most popular and well-received. It's even in the name of the forum.

I didn't vote because, of course, it's Doom. Not really worth voting for that one!

I would give honourary mentions to Heretic, Chex Quest(3) and Harmony. Each of them are well developed games in their own right with a really strong identity. Heretic has a special place in my heart because it was the first Doom engine game I could run smoothly on my Amiga with a CD32 controller. Those were fun times! Chex Quest 3 is just great fun and the music is waaaay underrated. Harmony was just much more than I had expected it really does impress. I would have happily bought that game if it had been released on Steam or GOG!
