Me, PSD files, and my very sad Laptop

So I have a netbook which amounts to roughly an electric typewriter. But I also have an hour long lunch break at work. So I'm looking for a free program which has an add-on or whatever that will let me edit the text in a .PSD file which I made in the copy of Photoshop I have on my desktop at home. Paint.NET sadly cannot edit the text since it doesn't really do vector stuff. It just rasterizes the text that's present so I can't actually edit it.

Apparently GIMP has PSD support, but may have issues depending on how complex the layers are. Failing that, the only other free apps I know of can only view PSDs, not edit them.

My personal recommendation would be to grab an old version of Paint Shop Pro (v5 through v7.05). However, it's shareware and I forget whether it automatically locks you out after 30 days or just keeps flagging up an annoying reminder every time you open it.

Okay, I'll look up Paintshop Pro and at least try Gimp. It's really just the text issue - I'm not really trying to do any magic, I just need to be able to edit the text and then make a big ole' PDF out of e'm. That might be a separate issue in and of itself, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Unless one of you folks know what program is good for saving multiple files to one pdf as pages.

Another vote for Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I think 7.04 (rather than 7.05) was the last version before Coral took it over and bloated it out of all proportion. Given that your machine is old/weak, PSP should be light weight enough to run well enough on your machine. I'd avoid version 5. It's basically good (and not hugely different from ver 7) but it has an annoying bug where if you have an area selected and then quickly press undo, you can get a crash. Not a big issue, but a bit annoying. You should be able to fine the demo version of PSP 7.04 easily enough and, from memory, the only restriction is that it puts up a nag screen when you start it.

If you're not lawful good you can get CS2 "free" if you don't mind making an Abode account (hacked 2 years ago fake info recommended).
