[NEED HELP] Lost a mandatory .exe setup file

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

[NEED HELP] Lost a mandatory .exe setup file

Post by Evil Operative »

Since I got not luck asking on answers.yahoo.com, I'm going to try here:

So, I've got this game called Prototype 2 for the PC from a friend. He gave it to me a while ago and have even maybe deleted it from his computer, so I can't ask him for a replacement.

The problem is: I have been missing the .exe file to extract and install the 5 .bin files into my computer, as you can see from the screenshot right here:
Spoiler: .exe file missing!
I know how most people don't actually install the game and just mount or burn it using softwares like Daemon Tools and such. But it doesn't work on this, which sucks. Doing the aforementioned gives me this message.
Spoiler: why, just why?
So, I would like to propose the question that is it possible to make a .exe file on our own if replacements aren't available or it just can't be done?

That doesn't look like a legit installer for the game to me. That looks like something a group like Deviance, Razor1911, or Reloaded would distribute. I wonder if perhaps a virus scanner detected it as a threat.

Virus scans detect nothing. I only have the files that have the game INSIDE of them. They just need a special kind of executable to take those files out of the .bin file extension. I am searching through hundreds of torrents of this game right now to see if I can find the same exact torrent the .bin files came from. But I just cannot find the correct one.

I doubt Activision uses spanned InnoSetup installers to install their Steam-exclusive PC port.

So that means I have no choice but to dump it away. Thanks for the info anyway.

Because if you had the exe to begin with, your antivirus software may have deleted or quarantined it instantly and without telling you. It's not the bin files that could've been infected but the exe itself.

From the start, I thought that might be the problem. And that is the problem. But unfortunately my computer had been upgraded and was restored to nothing many times during the course of it. So I don't think I might be able to recover the .exe file from the Antivirus' Quarantine.
