Hi, welcome to the internet!jdredalert wrote:nothing is more annoying than the [insert thing people like here] fanboys.
I haven't gotten around to the Fallouts yet, but I think my mom and dad will be happy.
Just think, this game could be mediocre and it'd still be welcome after ESO.

I believe that's fanboys in general, though. The overly dedicated ones, at least.jdredalert wrote:Well, i have to agree with Hellstorm Archon, that nothing is more annoying than the Fallout fanboys. I mean, just take a look at the comments section of this video: if a single soul points the cons of this trailer (mainly how the graphics looks dated) they all draw the "kill the Heretic" stance. Some people forgot that being a fan is not necessarily consume everything they throw on you without the slightest critical sense.
Anyway, I'm looking forward Fallout 4, but I've learned not to be too enthusiastic about an upcoming game. I like the series, but Fallout 3 haven't hooked me as much as Fallout Tactics.
I still need to remind myself to give Fallout 1 and 2 a try, though. ._.

You are definitely missing out I liked the first two games a lot more, though your opinion might differ if you prefer the more action-oriented / episodic approach Tactics had.XanderK9 wrote:I still need to remind myself to give Fallout 1 and 2 a try, but my backlog of games is so big! ._.
I seem to have a bad eye for this, but I think games have not been climbing the ladder of graphics much these last few years. In fact, I'd say there's little left to climb. Smaller details, sure. Higher quality assets, okay, but it's not like occasionally spotting the polygonwork or texture filtering is going to stop me from enjoying a game.jdredalert wrote:the graphics looks dated
Note that my opinion is heavily biased by the fact that I live on decade old hardware. Still, my point stands.

You guys need to understand that, it's the same engine as Skyrim just updated slightly to hide it.

I felt like the human models looked very artificial. You know, looking more like moving dolls and less like human beings. Also:
I know that feel, bro.I live on decade old hardware.

Who cares about Boston as a setting? Why set the game there of all places?

Like the other games, it's not like the location really matters except giving a reason why most of the stuff are different.

Fallout 3 hinted about The Institute's dealings in Rivet City (it was the Android mission). A few years ago in reality, Bethesda was spotted scouting MIT. That's a huge hint as to what's going on, and it's got me curious.JimmyJ wrote:Who cares about Boston as a setting? Why set the game there of all places?

Valve sent the Scout to Bethesda HQ as their ambassador (Why him, we'll never know). He decided to "make a few suggestions"* while he was there.JimmyJ wrote:Who cares about Boston as a setting? Why set the game there of all places?
*(threaten the development team until they "complied with his demands"**)

Amazing, the game's not even out yet and people are already finding glitches in it. =P

Re: [Fallout 4] A Wild Countdown Appears.
I've loved the Fallout series from the beginning. This new installment probably won't run on my machine, at least not without drastic changes to video options and some tweaking. Personally though, I'm going to wait a year or two, that way most of the bugs will be worked out, and all the DLCs will be available. I've honestly only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas within the past few months, but the wait was worth it.
EDIT: I'd like to see a Bethesda Fallout game set in Europe or East Asia, or maybe even Russia! Talk about the other side of the coin!

Wouldn't work in Eurasia/Russia. Merciless sendups of McCarthy-era 1950s America have always, always, ALWAYS been a key element of the Fallout series, along with an aesthetic best described as "Raygun Gothic meets Mad Max, doused in dog piss and left to rust".
Besides, Fallout game set in Russia would be redundant---we already have one, and it's called STALKER. (Ukraine, actually, but, ah, given the events of the past year...*cough* ANYWAY.)
I'm most curious as to what twisted 'gimmicks' the Vaults in this game will have.

They have not disappointed in this department yet. Some of them in Fallout 3 were utterly mad. Can you taste the blue?Big C wrote:I'm most curious as to what twisted 'gimmicks' the Vaults in this game will have.
