Apparently I've been picking the notes of the main riff of the bass track in Phantom of the Opera at three notes for every two notes I should've actually picked - or the pace the guitar track picks them.
Not something I'm going to correct, but it would certainly help explain the blister I've earned my right index finger.

Blisters are to be expected when you're starting bass (are you starting? If not I don't think I need to explain this). Keep playing and it won't hurt.

Once you get calluses try not to pick at them with your nail out of just liking to touch them for any reason like I did. I accidently got one off and playing bass hurted for a short period again, but one session was enough to restore the callus to my satisfaction. Maybe that's just me though.

Calluses are interesting things.
