So the recommended specs for the VR headset seem fairly high:
NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
I consider my setup in the higher end as it runs current releases at 60 frames on high settings. But it's already outdated if I plan on using a Rift. I may upgrade by the time the Rift is released so I can use it, but I fear most gamers' setups by far will fall short.
Thoughts?

Wow, the 960 I recently bought doesn't even cut it. XD Time to buy another graphics card!

Shouldn't the recommended specs for this differ from game to game? Or are they just going to the extremes here? That's quite a demanding spec if you're using it on something like the GZDoom mod.

In case you're wondering why the requirements are so high, then it's because a good VR experience requires a very high refresh rate (which translates to framerate) - which requires a fuckton of horsepower.

Might have to replace my GTX 780 sooner than I thought.

Isn't 3D just a matter of doubling the resolution so it can send one to each eye? The performance should only be cut in half of what it normally is.Blox wrote:In case you're wondering why the requirements are so high, then it's because a good VR experience requires a very high refresh rate (which translates to framerate) - which requires a fuckton of horsepower.
