Doomguy for Super Smash Bros 5?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Give him Brutal Doom-styled melee moves, an assault rifle or shotgun, a BFG 9000, and a whole horde of demons, and he's set.

Characters from other FPS and Doom mods are welcome to consideration.
BD != Original Doom. If you want him somewhere, you gotta take the original form.
And seeing how the fist in Doom is one of the most useless weapons in videogame-history (unless you have berserk), he wouldn't be very good at melee, if you ask me.

Chainsaw is the most efficient way of dealing with cacodemons, pain elementals, arachnotrons, etc. though, as in maps you can get close enough to them the fire rate's enough to stun lock them without any ammo consumption and no risk of losing health.

So he'd probably have a weak jab at the start of his dial-A, but his other melee moves could be done with chainsaw. Heck, one of his B-moves could be on a cooldown and berserk him, temporarily reducing damage taken and changing his chainsaw attacks into more standard melee and overall increasing his melee damage.

Only problem: A chainsaw doesn't really fit into a Smash Bros.

He's more fitting on Sony's Battle Royale, in my opinion anyways.

I mean, sure it's pretty brutal, but like there's a ton of moves that would normally tear their target to shreds. And I vaguely recall a lot of chainsaw violence in cartoons, too.

Even then, Doomguy literally doesn't do anything else but holding it in front of him and running forward. I'm afraid that slash-attacks with it would't really fit Doomguy a lot.

Doomguy wouldn't really fit Smash a lot if he played exactly like he did in Doom.

Either that, or he'd be pretty trash damage-wise to make up for the fact that attacking would not inhibit his movement, not to mention almost all advanced movement and most of the stages would be locked from him due to his inability to jump without an archvile.

Well, those are the biggest characteristics of Doomguy. Changing them makes the character nothing like him, exept for the looks. He hardly speaks, too.
The idea of the berserk-pack for B isn't that great either. Even if you can only use it after cooling down, you can immeadiatly use it again afterwards. Right? It would have to block all the other things from beein used, or else it wouldn't have a single disadventage.

That would defeat the purpose of it having a cooldown entirely. In fact, that would defeat the purpose of it being a buff, not his default state, as he could have it up with 100% up time.

Dear god please do not do this. It would be worse than the Doom movie if that is even possible.

They somehow managed to make Mega Man play fairly traditionally, except for the part where I don't really use normal attacks at all because Bowser doesn't even flinch when shot.

This thread is a bit old and i hope i'm not making an useless bump, but with the recent Doom port on the Switch and the patch it got a few days ago, it might have become relevant.

After Boobywitch and Cloud Strife can made it into the last game, Doomguy seems pretty likely. Even if it's just a trophy like Rayman was.

Althought that makes sort of sense, there's some potential to gain from having him as a fighter, that could represent the history of first person shooters.
