What part of 'i'm leaving' do you not understand?
Let sleeping dogs lie.

1) Someone said "STAY ALIVE", and then he said "I would try to stay alive for sure".leileilol wrote:What part of 'i'm leaving' do you not understand?

2) Searching around for "Sphagne" shows nothing more than things he made in 2007.
3) Why did he put a "cry" face?
So I basically think he... died... So is that true?

He's active on the Bethesda forum. I spoke to him last year in PM on the Beth forum. Same username, if you want to look for him.
Now someone that I AM legitimately concerned about is bagheadspidey. No goodbyes, no nothing. He was in the middle of working on a terrain editor for ZDoom and was almost going to release it then poof, gone forever.

A lot of famous doomers have disappeared, thinking about it now. What happened to all of those good doomers?

Seriously. I remember bumping the thread in 2010, and I swear I got a response back or a PM from him, but after searching high and low I must be misremembering.Nash wrote:Now someone that I AM legitimately concerned about is bagheadspidey. Re: Does anyone know what happened to this guy?
People sometimes go and even find much better fits for their spare time than Doom! Before I joined the Doom forums, I was posting to another game to which I'm no longer posting now (too low modding interest for me; I hardly play that game nowadays unlike Doom), since Doom is a better fit for me!fellowzdoomer wrote:A lot of famous doomers have disappeared, thinking about it now. I best know Sphagne from that collection of Doom 2 wads that conveniently start with '0' so they're the first on /idgames. Did he do anything else besides those vanilla Doom 2 maps? They are pretty cool levels, but I haven't gone through them completely, since they are quite hard to survive.
Honestly I don't know why he felt the need to say like "Goodbye, forums!" and then keep his word. Maybe it's just him… Normally when I leave some forums, I just go away. If I feel like expressing these feelings, then it means I'm undecided and need approval.

Presumably they've grown attached to the place and it pains them to leave, but leave they must, so they figure a proper farewell is in order.printz wrote: Honestly I don't know why he felt the need to say like "Goodbye, forums!" and then keep his word. OK, we figured it out. Once you join ZDoom Forums, you stay in ZDoom Forums, otherwise we WILL make a manhunt thread.

Exactly this. I've left and come back several times for various reasons, but this is literally the first place I ever "settled" on the internet, so it's kinda like home. I've decided that I'll remain active here as often/long as possible, even if/when I have no further interest in Doom or modding, just because it's one of my favorite places.Big C wrote:Presumably they've grown attached to the place and it pains them to leave, but leave they must, so they figure a proper farewell is in order.

At that point, bagheadspidey had been working on an interactive landscape generator, similar to Zterrain Generator by Grubber.raymoohawk wrote:sorry to derail disscussion, but waht is the terrain editor? would somethin like that let you use flats like tiles in top down games?
http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... 64#p337834
but, unfortunately, he ran into some trouble
http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... 90#p422207
which seemingly discouraged him from completing the project.
However, for someone familiar with Blender, there is this for GZDoom Builder

Re: Does anyone know what happened to this guy?
and there's Giests and Hotwaxes and geedouggs, we just need to accept that Doom is only a game to some people and not a life's passion many people move on to newer games, moving onto higher modding like unity or actually working for like Blizzard or something, and then some of them just got married and have a child now and have no time for all of this. you should never jump to the death conclusion

BFG: geedougg is active on Facebook even to this day. His posts aren't related to video games, of course.
