Fun fact. The USAAC operated a pair of flying aircraft carriers in the 1930s, the Akron and Macon. The project was (prematurely IMO) abandoned when both airships crashed due to freak accidents.

Ye, I heard about the airship incidents. Macon, Akron and Sheandoah airships, if I recall. Also it was widely known that the "Akron" airship was outright cursed, constantly killin' its crew. No wonder the USA got rid of the remaining airships quickly.
Also, take a look at the "ghost blimp", the story of the L-8 airship, from which two soldiers disappeared without a trace. Damn it was strange...
