It's probably me being very picky as an adept-ish drummer, but if you've heard almost any modern metal band and compared their drum sound to a real one you'll notice a difference, especially the kick sound (that bothers me to no end, and you may have witnessed me complaining about it). Sampled music doesn't really care about what a real drumkit sounds like, and I know you're into that stuff (midis shouldn't actually sound real in all honesty though) but I was pleased to hear good-sounding drums in that audio file of yours.Viscra Maelstrom wrote:pardon?undead003 wrote:Oh, drums that don't suck...Viscra Maelstrom wrote:so i tried doing something differently in FL Studio last night. it probably sucks, but whatever.
It reminds me of John Bonham's sound (I look up to him), but the audio sounds very compressed. How about an uncompressed version?

it's sampled from a Led Zeppelin song, yes. it sounds like that because i wanted to fuck around with the sample to try and make it sound different. just having the sample used as-is sounded a bit strange to me. admittedly you could argue that the sample being fucked up by me sounds strange too, but hey, it's an experiment.undead003 wrote:It's probably me being very picky as an adept-ish drummer, but if you've heard almost any modern metal band and compared their drum sound to a real one you'll notice a difference, especially the kick sound (that bothers me to no end, and you may have witnessed me complaining about it). btw, you do know that electronic music is known for sampling drum breaks from other songs, right? i too used to play the drums, like, 7 years ago or so. fucking around with drums is a thing i definitely enjoy doing, even though the result is often very mechanical-sounding.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Meh. I know hip hop samples a lot of sounds, such as Beastie Boys. That's about the only sampling I'm somewhat used to. Now that we're talking about sampling you got me listening to Rhymin' & Stealin'.Viscra Maelstrom wrote:btw, you do know that electronic music is known for sampling drum breaks from other songs, right? i too used to play the drums, like, 7 years ago or so. fucking around with drums is a thing i definitely enjoy doing, even though the result is often very mechanical-sounding.

electronic music is basically built around sampling. the amen break is a testament to this, basically being the originator for several genres and subgenres of electronic music. hip-hop is also a form of electronic music, due to how much it is built around sampling.undead003 wrote:Meh. Is it just me, or why do a lot of talented people on DA disable comments?
The only reason that I can think of is to avoid statements like that. Well, then it actually makes sense.

well, since internet is for everyone including bad people and trolls, you may need to defend yourself from them somehow.TheBadHustlex wrote:Is it just me, or why do a lot of talented people on DA disable comments?

The "What Did You Last Buy" Thread
I recently have been saving up, and just reached my goal of $4000. So I decided to build another PC. Beyond overkill for gaming (As I do rendering and video editing and photoshop lately, which is resource intensive), with enthusiast level hardware and under $4000 (obviously). With personal preference of minor additions. I just bought and typed up the part list.
Here ya go.
Here ya go.

Holy shit, are you doing another Skunkworks or what? And why are you going with Windows 7? It's not actually better, unless you're going with it because it may be cheaper to upgrade to Windows 10.loismustdie555 wrote:Here ya go.

Tbh I just like 7 better than 8.1. And yeah I'm hoping the Windows 10 upgrade will be cheaper.undead003 wrote:Holy shit, are you doing another Skunkworks or what? EDIT: And referring to Skunkworks: No, just building an uber PC.
